I haven’t experienced a grand wedding. Ours was a surprise one and very abrupt. Even I as a bride wasn’t prepared. I didn’t know we will be tying the knot that day.
Though there was no knot to tie in the first place. We had a civil wedding. We never had yellow gold wedding bands. What we bought that day from a nearby pawnshop was a ring for my groom. While I used the gold ring my father gave to me on my graduation. But of course, there were a few beautiful and unique wedding bands on display like those you would see at Jeulia. Only that we have a limited budget that time.
Weddings on Thanksgiving Day
From my friends and relatives abroad, I have come to learn that no holiday brings a family together like Thanksgiving. Most family reunions happen during this celebration. Food is just overflowing and almost everyone meets in one place to express gratitude for all the blessings received over the year. Thus, it comes as no surprise that a number of couples likewise plan their wedding on Thanksgiving Day.
Just perfect as I can’t seem to find sleep, I check on some wedding bands online. And I find a few beautiful collection of wedding bands for women at Jeulia. It has a selection of gorgeous wedding bands, truly unique just like each couple’s love story is unique. And with its wide selection, surely each pair will find the right ring for their special day.
As the night sets deeper, my interest in weddings goes deeper as well.
What do wedding bands represent?
A symbol of marriage, the wedding band represents infinity. As a circle has no beginning nor end, so does the love between a husband and wife. Their love is endless just the way love should always be. The band represents the union and commitment of the couples for life. For many, the wedding ring is worn on the fourth finger of the left hand. It is believed that its veins lead directly to the wearer’s heart.
Then the priest’s usual spiel plays on my mind.
Take this ring as a sign of my love and fidelity. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
As I analyze it, the ring then is the sign of love and fidelity of the one giving it. The ring that one wears on her finger does not represent her commitment to the marriage but speaks of her spouse’s affection and faithfulness to the bride. The same manner that the ring the bride slips on the finger of her groom symbolizes her love and fidelity to him.
But whatever is the real meaning of wedding bands, one thing is certain.
Love is a beautiful thing. Any love that leads to the union of a man and a woman in a ceremony called marriage is one brave act. Despite the uncertainty, they both took the plunge into unknown waters. Or perhaps, they are too certain of their future and love that they didn’t even consider the unknown waters in the first place. Because for them, nothing seems scary. They both imagine being together is a reward that far outweighs any risk.
