Momi Berlin and her little man attended The Asian Parent Baby Bash last Sunday. The event gathered about 50 mommies and their beautiful families at the spacious The White Space in Makati City. The baby bash aimed to give the hardworking moms a break from their usual everyday dealings. The affair was also a perfect time for mothers to bond with fellow moms. Some got to spend some quality time with their kids as a play station was readily available. Indeed, it was a day of fun, love, and laughter. Momi Berlin and her little man truly enjoyed their short stay.

If only I have magic, I would want to know the innermost thoughts of my boys. I have two teenagers already. Though I would say we are pretty close, there are still times I can’t simply understand them. Perhaps same with those moments they can’t grasp my abrupt change of mood. Thus, as much as possible, we bond over good food and conversation during dinner and weekend meals. And there is another thing we all love doing together – baking.
Yes. My three boys love baking as much as their mom enjoys whipping creams and even greasing that baking pan. And I would say it is one of those bonding moments we can catch up and spend that much-needed quality time together. Beyond that, though, allow this mother to share with you the magic baking together brings to her family.
The magic baking together brings
Have you heard of the story “The Dirty laundry?” I haven’t not until this morning when I read it to my 11-year-old son. It was such a beautiful story worth sharing. Of course, the lesson it imparted was equally divine. I got it from Paulo Coelho’s blog. And he wrote it more than two years ago.
A young couple moves into a new neighborhood. The next morning while they are eating breakfast, the young woman sees her neighbor hanging the wash outside.
“That laundry is not very clean; she doesn’t know how to wash correctly. Perhaps she needs better laundry soap.”
For quite some time now, I have been reading to or watching children stories with my 17-month-old son. It has become our morning routine that even I, myself, look forward to it. More than the colorful and engaging graphics, the lessons from each story are inspiring. Indeed, our daily storytelling session has become a learning experience for this mother. Or at least I am constantly reminded of my morals and be ethical at most times.
I would like to share these stories and their lessons to you as well. As I always believe these anecdotes offer so much potential to remind us of life experiences and lessons. It is just amazing these tales often happen in real life, and we just need to be mindful of the morals they impart.

Living in the small house with four children can sometimes be crazy. Being the only woman in the house, I sometimes find myself all alone cleaning the mess my boys left. Do not get me wrong. My kids are real helpful and thoughtful. And these are the same reasons which sometimes pushes me not to bother them and give them the break they deserve.
But if there is one thing I truly enjoy being the mother of my kids, it is the valuable lessons they often teach their parents. Just like what I learned this week from my second son.
Son standing and walking around three times
I was reviewing my 11-year-old boy for his Mastery Exam in English. The two other school kids were busy doing their homework. Then from time to time, my second son would stand up and go outside. He did that for about three times until I snapped.
“Why can’t you stay in one place? How can you finish your assignment when you keep on standing and walking around? You make me dizzy!” was my remark.
One intention I firmly commit myself to do this year and the many years to come is to be a prayerful wife. I used to be a churchgoer and my prayers are my constant weapon. Sadly when the good Lord blesses my family with one boy after another, my faith dwindled. Perhaps career and motherhood took place. Often, despite the many good news, I still feel the emptiness of life. It grows, devouring even my relationship with my family and friends.
So I stood up and now, I am slowly walking my path toward a familiar trail. I realized that all along, He is just there waiting for me. The travel may still be long but this wife is happy she is on the right track.
What is the meaning of “As we forgive those who trespass against us”
Anyway, this story is about one realization I had this morning. I was praying the rosary and then stopped. What is the meaning of –
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
I cannot continue my prayer that morning. It seems so hard to forgive one person who is causing so much distress to us lately.
So I stopped.
