There is no one product that is perfect for every skin type, that I learned from trying many baby wash and shampoo for years. Though we have found what seems to be fitting for our fifth, I still try new products. More than the curiosity, it is knowing all options available.
From our recent pedia visit, our doctor told us that SumoSam has skin asthma. She mentioned that moisturizing his skin regularly is the most suitable treatment for his skin asthma. And he needs a hypoallergenic soap, preferably with the most natural and organic ingredient. Organic moisturizers and body wash contain no harmful chemicals and fragrances that may cause irritation and itching of the skin.
Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo seems to be the perfect brand we are looking for.
Aveeno Baby promises high-quality baby shampoo and wash that’s gentle on sensitive skin. It has natural oat extract, is paraben-free.
What I like about Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo
It is lightly scented. I like the smell it leaves on my baby’s skin. I love smelling him again and again. And even if its nearing night already, he still smells so fresh.
I also love that it is a head-to-toe wash. It makes it easier to wash my baby and need not switch to shampoo in washing his hair.
Its thick consistency makes dispensing trouble-free. It lathers very well and rinsing it off from the body is just so easy. This wash and shampoo also doesn’t hurt the eyes.
I love it that Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo has a pH level of 5.5. Research says that a pH level of 5.5 up to 7 is best when it comes to baby skin care products. Further, products that are too acidic or too alkaline are considered harsh to the baby’s skin. They can break down the baby’s skin barrier, contributing to skin diseases like eczema or atopic dermatitis.
What I don’t like about Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo
I always prefer the big bottle with the pump top. We do our grocery monthly, thus we always buy in bulk and those big sizes. We believe we save a lot from that style. Also, with a pump top, I could get the exact amount plus use my other hand securing our baby in his tub.
This baby wash and shampoo has a pH level of 5.5. I expect that my son’s skin asthma will be treated at this time. Sadly, he further got what looks like an eczema on both sides near his ears. I told the husband to stop using the wash and shampoo for fear it will worsen.
MOMI REVIEWS Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo
There are a dozen and more overwhelming array of options in the market. So how do you pick the best one?
Well, based on experience, each baby reacts differently to various products. I believe Aveeno aims to clean, moisturize, and protect a baby’s sensitive skin without drying it out. It contains oat extract which supposedly provides a soothing effect while gently nourishing delicate skin. Sadly, our baby got skin irritation and I wouldn’t risk using Aveeno Baby Wash and Shampoo to him again. Though I tried it with our Little Man and he seems to have no problem with the brand. Again, perhaps there is no one product that is perfect for every skin type.
The bath product we chooss to use on babies are very important to protect the softness of their baby skin. Looks like this product is safe to try. Thanks for sharing.
It really is tricky to choose and find the best product that would fit our little ones’ skin. I am in the same boat as my little man was born with such a sensitive skin. I have tried lots of different products and always opted for natural products whenever I can. Even now that he will turn 9, I still look for products that will work best with his skin condition. I have tried Aveeno last year, and although I love the lotion, I cannot say the same for the body wash. I sure hope I can use the bottle up before it expires.
