Helping Families Get Ready for the School Year

FedEx is once again showing its support for education by helping thousands of children in Cebu and Negros Oriental prepare for the upcoming school year. In partnership with the nonprofit group Feed the Children, the company provided backpacks filled with school supplies to students from farming and fishing communities.

For many Filipino moms, this brings comfort. It eases some of the pressure that comes with school expenses and helps children feel more ready and excited to learn.

Volunteers Packing with Purpose

Forty FedEx volunteers worked together to pack the school kits. Each backpack contained essential school supplies, including notebooks, pencils, and other necessary items. This small act of kindness sends a big message to the families receiving it. It tells them they are not forgotten and that others are rooting for their children’s success.

Access to education remains a challenge in some parts of the Philippines. According to UNICEF, only half of young children aged three to four attend daycare, and only seventy-eight percent of Filipino students complete basic education. FedEx and Feed the Children hope to change that by making learning tools more accessible for families who need them most.

Believing in a Brighter Future

Feed the Children also highlighted the deeper meaning behind the donation. “Our continued collaboration with FedEx reminds us that real change begins when communities come together,” said Bregeita Jefferson, President of FEED International. “These school kits represent more than supplies; they carry hope, dignity, and opportunity.”

Creating Long-Term Community Impact

The effort is part of FedEx Cares, a global program that focuses on community support, environmental responsibility, and entrepreneurship. In the Philippines, FedEx continues to work on inclusive programs that support local growth and open up opportunities for families and children.

This initiative is more than just giving away supplies. For many families, it means having one less thing to worry about and one more reason to believe that better days are ahead.
