On my first salary, I bought my mom her own Tupperware Spaghetti gift set. She loves to cook spaghetti for her only daughter and I would want to inspire her to cook more. I can still vividly remember I paid for that set for six paydays. And I had second thoughts buying the item. It was too expensive for an entry-level employee.
So many years have passed and my mother now has her grandchildren. She still cooks spaghetti and uses that old Tupperware Spaghetti gift set. Perhaps old habits die hard. Or it may possibly her way to charm the grandchildren the same way she charmed her daughter. And even after 18 years, her Spaghetti gift set is still very much dependable. When I borrowed it the other night (so I could take a photo of it), the set still looks decent and not at all tattered. She maybe loves the set so much she just couldn’t give it up.
I think so, too. It is, after all, her daughter’s gift to her when the latter received her first paycheck.
My mom’s Tupperware gift set comes with a pasta dispenser. I remember my mom would put drinking water on it instead of those pasta shells. I cannot remember anymore where that dispenser was, but it certainly served as well. The set also has a colander which my mom uses to drain her pasta and even rinse vegetables. It proudly sits beside her casserole as she uses it regularly on her cooking. She also uses the bowl frequently, same with the big fork and spoon for tossing and mixing her pasta dish.
My mom’s Filipino Style Spaghetti has such distinct taste. It is sweet topped with dozens of chopped hotdogs and ground pork. The dish is finished off with a topping of grated melted cheese. It could undoubtedly make the low-spirited me smile and forget my worries even for a few hours. The younger me then believed her mother’s spaghetti tasted extra delicious because of how it was presented. My mom would use the white square-shaped bowl and the dish simply looked so gorgeous.
As I have mentioned, my mother still uses her Spaghetti gift set. She lives just near ours and on Saturdays or Sundays, she would come to the house with her white Tupperware bowl filled with my favorite pasta. The kids would hurriedly help my mom with her bitbit. Their faces all glowing with delight. Their grandmother just prepared their favorite spaghetti served in a very familiar white and red Tupperware.
Looking back, good thing I bought that Tupperware gift set 18 years ago. It still carries my favorite spaghetti and remains the symbol of my mom’s unwavering love to her daughter and now, to her grandchildren.

Wow, 18 years ago and hindi pa rin siya mukhang luma. I wish my mom lives near our place, for sure may free food din ako. My mom loves to bake and cook na bihira ko naman matikman. hehehe!
The perks of having your mom’s house near yours. Wow, swerte! I love moms finding time to bake and cook. Ihihihi.
Oh I remember my Nanay. When we were young she had Tupperware collection. And I agree they last for years. And from I got from her my love for spaghetti.
Ihihhi. I think almost everyone loves Spaghetti because our parents cook that pasta for us when we were young pa.
I have fond memories of Tupperware too. When I was growing up my parents were Tupperware dealers. So we had a lot of their containers at home. They really last a long time!
How I wish my mom also ventured into that business. Ang mahal kaya ng Tupperware. Ihihi. I remember kapag di Tupperware baunan mo sa school, medyo laos ka.
Love pinoy style spaghetti and I love Tupperware. Had we not moved abroad, we’ll still be having those Tupperwares. 🙂 haha
Hahha. Correct. Spaghetti and Tupperware may also go hand in hand in parties and celebrations.
I remember ours was yellow. I live far from my mom so I can’t get it. Plus, she doesn’t cook anymore so I’m sure it’s stocked up in a forgotten place already. Galing that yours is still looking new and is still being used. Pang matagalan talaga! 🙂
Pangmatagalan talaga si Tupperware, noh? Plus my mom really takes care of her kitchen stuff or most things.
18 years and still looking newer than the new stuff that I have. Tupperware is super durable and each of us have their own Tupperware story to tell, grabe! Mula noon hanggang ngayon, Tupperware parin ang #1 sa plasticwares!
Yes, very true. Durable talaga and they are stylish din ha kaya di nakakahiya gamitin outdoors.
That’s so sweet of you, Momi Berlin! 🙂 I remember how happy my Mom is when I gave her an authentic VS perfume! She was really happy about it and her smile is so priceless. And now that I’m a Mom na rin, I think the emotion I feel whenever my son give me warm sweet kisses is distinct to what my Mom felt whenever we give her special gifts. 🙂 Anyway, my Mom also owns Tupperware products and she still uses it especially on a special occasion like Christmas, New Year and Birthdays! Tupperware products are of very good quality talaga, noh? Matanda pa yata sa akin ang Tupperware ng Mom ko eh. Haha

Oh I remember my mama I miss her so much, kahit di nya kami pinagluluto ng Spag ever but still she loves us and looking forward na kami nalang magluluto for her. I love the quality of Tupperware.
Proven and tested. Maganda talaga ang Tupperware, ano? Our moms perhaps are our standard of excellence and love.
