Get a pair of comfortable shoes and wear the right clothes depending on the weather so you can go into full tourist mode. You could find your way to the fashionable Portobello Road for antiques or sit down for a Japanese, Scandinavian and Korean cuisine at Flat Three. These are just one of the many things that you could do on foot.
Choose the Right Hotel
When visiting London, choosing the right hotel is essential. You need to be close enough to all of the fun so that you can make the most of your trip. There are many hotels in London. Choosing one is all about your taste and budget. A few suggestions if you are up for affordable hotels are London House Hotel, Bayswater or Gloucester Bay Hotel in Marylebone.
Enjoy Bus Tours
If you go to London, it’s only right that you go on a bus tour as that’s one of the most popular things you can do as a tourist. Consider trying the hop-on-hop-off bus so you can get a tour around some of the most exciting places in the city such as Parliament, Buckingham Palace, and Big Ben. The good thing about the bus tours is that you can also see London at night which can be a captivating sight to behold.
Visit Museums
One thing that London has is a rich cultural history, so you’ll find many museums that you can go and see. Each museum offers something different, so it all boils down to your interests. One museum worth visiting would be the National Gallery which has a great collection of art. Also, why not go and see The British Museum or Churchill War Rooms as they have regular exhibitions and great narrations which could teach you a lot about history.
Don’t be Afraid to Branch Out
Although there are many activities in London, don’t be afraid to put on your explorer hat and see what the outskirts have to offer. If you’ve got enough time, hop on the train and visit somewhere like Richmond located on the bank of the Thames where you’ll find walks through historic homes. Kew Gardens is another beautiful spot further out which is a botanical garden that consists of lovely plants and nature. The Princess of Wales Conservatory is especially impressive as you can explore plants from ten different climate zones.
Visiting London for the First Time
Visiting London or any place shouldn’t be terrifying. Be bold, adventurous, and merry to discover, learn, and explore. More than learning about the place’s culture, language, and food, you also get to discover a part of you. So how about checking that map, choosing a place to visit, and applying for a passport? Opting for London for the first time is a nice start.
