Many of today’s young artists came from various talent search opportunities. This only proves that many young Filipinos are truly gifted with talents worthy to be recognized. Also, these talent search programs are indeed valuable in helping aspiring artists reach their dream. And one contest that remains to be well-received is the SM Little Stars.

Now in its 12th year, the SM Little Stars 2018 continues discovering talented young Filipinos. Ms. Grace Magno, SM Supermalls VP for Advertising, shares that through the years, the competition gets better, even widening its scope to accommodate more talents and aspiring artists.
The contest is not limited to singing and dancing alone as any kind of performing arts as a talent is welcome. One may play a musical instrument or do gymnast acts. This very well mirrors the objective of the talent search – to be a platform for kids to share their gifts, enhance their personalities, and develop their confidence.
The kids will also get the chance to be guided by celebrity mentors and join in a series of workshops. These are all rooted in SM Supermalls’ goal to help the youngsters develop their innate talent and boost their self-confidence. Of course, opportunities to have fun and make new friends are also expected.
The shining little stars
A media conference was held at SM Megamall. There, SM Supermalls named the celebrity judges and mentors. These include beauty queen Winwyn Marquez, top singing recording artist Sam Concepcion, and celebrated dance master Mickey Perz. Multi-talented actor John Arcilla completes the list of judges and mentors.

The conference was also graced by some of SM Little Stars achievers who are now making big names in show business. In attendance were 2014 Girl Grand Winner Fil-Korean Chun Sa Angella Jung, 2013 Boy Grand Winner Nhikzy Vheench Calma, and The Voice Season 2 finalist Esang de Torres. de Torres is one of the most successful alumni of the SM Little Stars.
For this year, SM Supermalls is giving away over 9.5 million worth of prizes. These include two brand new Chevrolet Trax, trips to China for two, college scholarships from the National University, and PhP200,000 worth of cash and SM gift certificates. Plus, of course, hundreds of opportunities would surely open for the kiddo.
