MOMI SMILES| Meaningful Monday 1

MOMI SMILES| Meaningful Monday 1

Our house was surrounded by clutter and dust and all I did was turn a blind eye to them all.  Perhaps, the same thing my boys did.  Instead of cleaning, I passed the responsibility to my children.  I always have my baby and toddler as an excuse.  But despite the nagging, they just can do what their little hands can.   Many times,  I felt demotivated with all the mess.  Surely, it did affect my boys, too.

So I painted our living room.  I planted herbs and succulents.  I trashed disposables and donated clothes, bags, and shoes.  This mother started cleaning the house.

I am hoping that with the change my boys will see in their parent, they will be motivated and follow suit.  That the once happy household we had would resurface anytime soonest.

Meaningful Monday

It is for this reason that I am pushing for a meaningful Monday starting today. I would like to inspire myself with a realization I will be using for the entire week to calm my mind, relax my body, and motivate my spirit.

To start off, I have realized that:

We do not need a new refrigerator.

I just have to clean our almost eight-year-old refrigerator and it will look and smell new.  To free space, I need to be mindful of the expiration of the condiments and bottles of medicine inside the ref.

I do not have to insist to my husband to go back to my mom’s place and leave our rented apartment.

I can beautify our small space if I really want to, dismissing the reason that it is just a rented house.   It is our present living space and I need to make it pleasing and comfortable for me and the boys’ sanity.

To end, let me share with you some beautiful words Oprah Winfrey once uttered-

[tweetshareinline tweet=”Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. ” username=”SPk3(ad*e(5d4@pEwem@tnlADFb9ZZc8:1:1″]

[tweetshareinline tweet=”If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough. ” username=”SPk3(ad*e(5d4@pEwem@tnlADFb9ZZc8:1:1″]

I am glad I have seen and realized these.  I will try to enrich and improve on what we have.

Did I mention I started planting herbs and succulents?  This is the start.  I still yet to wipe clean each pot and identify them with a name tag.  I am just too excited to take photos.  This mother is also planning to repaint the walls and even the grills.  That’s the only space I have to plant my herbs.  And I hope I be able to maintain this hobby.

It’s so true how kids learn and follow by example. Great reminder to keep my space clean and perhaps motivate my kids in the process!

I love that quote. My goal this new year was to be more grateful. I take time at the end of each day to try and be thankful. I’ve found I am a happier person for it!

It is so easy to wallow in what we do not have, but I am SO proud of you for seeing that it isn’t helping you to do that. Even if your home is rented, for now it is YOUR home. I agree that if you can to stay there and not move back in with parents. Once you leave it isn’t the same going back lol. I love your new attitude and I think you will see your family appreciates it a lot!

I loved reading your story. I am glad that you are now loving what you have. It is not the home that makes the person it is the person that makes the home 🙂

Love it. I’ve been doing this lately because I really want to maintain the good ambience of the new house when we moved. Have you read the FlyLady’s posts about decluttering? It will encourage you to start cleaning. haha Anyway, she says to just set 15 minutes for each spot where you are in instead of spending 3 hrs in one spot. Have an imaginary timer. If you are in the kitchen, remove everything that needs to go out of sight and wipe counters, whatever you can do while you are there. These little accomplishments help encourage you to clean more. =)

Cleaning and planting has been one of my hobbies in 2018, I am hoping that I can be able to live with a minimal things. I am also taking care of succulents recently. I also loved the idea of your hanging pots, it saves space and it really looks good too.

I love what you did with your window and those plants. Plano din namin ang vertical garden kasi maliit lang space namin sa labas, may mga pots na ako, wala pa lang naitatanim haha. I hope I can do that soon.
