PERSONAL NARRATIVES, MOMMY TIPS, AND THRILLING DISCOVERIES TO MAKE DAILY LIFE THE HAPPIEST

MOMI SHARES| How to maintain healthy family relationships

March 6, 2017 · 48 Comments

A healthy relationship keeps the doors and windows wide open. Plenty of air is circulating and no one feels trapped.

– unknown

We all desire to have a healthy relationship filled with love, happiness, and respect.  Forming that ideal relationship, though, takes time and effort.  It simply does not happen overnight.

Just like in our family, different personalities and interests sometimes weaken our link.  Problems at work or school add up to the stress that at times, affect our dealing with loved ones.  Luckily, I would say that in our family, everyone exerts effort to make the family grow and stay strong.  And I would like to share with you some efforts which become habits that help create and maintain a healthy family relationship.

Ways to maintain healthy family relationships

Travel together

As much as possible, we go as a family.  Simple dining out together helps us know each other better.  Food choices, movie preference, even music trip reveal so much about us.  Simple or complex, these revelations help us understand each other more, and from understanding comes respect.  We all have our personal preference, and we see to it that we respect each other.  Mutual respect shows we care about the other person, and it is essential in maintaining a healthy connection.  Also, the endless adventures bond us and help us create beautiful memories.  And these bonding and wonderful memories will all the more strengthen our relationship.

Jog and exercise together

On Sundays, before we hear mass, we jog or walk around the subdivision.  Sometimes, we go to the nearest park so the boys could play basketball or enjoy the swing or monkey bar.  I may say great discoveries happen when we play together.  We not only build lifelong family memories but also get the chance to discover each other’s strengths.  When we play, everything seems to lighten up as we laugh, cheer, and joke around.  We feel that we belong to this family and thus fortify the tie among us.

Eat together

Family mealtime is important to us.  Because the boys have different school schedules, we do not eat breakfast together.  We see to it though that by dinner, we are all in the same table.  It is during mealtime that the kids would share their victories and struggles at school.  Husband would likewise share how his day went. Even our little 18-month old boy would show his latest amusing acts.  I have read once that kids who share the dining table with loved ones develop higher self-confidence.  Perhaps they are assured that they have a family to talk to and run to anytime.

How to maintain healthy family relationships

How to maintain healthy family relationships

The same with eating together, sharing home-cooked meals create a positive effect on the children, too.  Home cooking allows me to choose the ingredients to use same with the way I want the dish cooked.  I could grill or bake our fish or meat as a healthier alternative to frying.  I get to use the ingredients I trust and even make use of the home-grown vegetables we have at our small plant box.  And one of the cooking essentials I always trust is Minola Premium Coconut Oil.

Minola Premium Coconut Oil promotes healthier relationships

One of the favorites of my boys is fried chicken.  Unfortunately, though, deep frying is not exactly the healthiest cooking styles.  But from readings and listening to experts, I have come to know that deep frying need not be uncool if I use the right cooking oil.  And the more I love Minola Premium Coconut Oil.

Very timely that I attended a coconut information forum with Dr. Fabian Dayrit as resource speaker.  I have learned that coconut oil is very high in saturated fats, and is proven to handle hours of deep frying without any change in quality.  Moreover, it has numerous health benefits, making it the best choice for cooking.  Just a few of these advantages are maintaining cholesterol levels, relief from kidney problems, and preventing heart diseases and high blood pressure among others.  These reasons all the more make me love the cooking oil we have been using for years.

Maintaining healthy family relationships

Keeping a healthy relationship among family members has always been my goal.  Thus, my husband and I allot budget on travels and parks trips. Doing things and chores together also contributes to building the foundation of healthier relationships.   Add to that, ensuring the health of family members through the right selection of food ingredients and cooking essentials surely boost their immunity and well-being.  These also contribute to keeping my relationship with my husband and children in tip-top shape.  Maintaining healthy family relationships need not be all glamorous and expensive.  Sometimes, all it takes is nourishing them physically and emotionally of our time and love.

Excellent tips! When I was young I loved to travel with my family and friends. Eating together and socializing are too good ways to get to know your family better and to enjoy their company. Exercising together instead is a good way to teach your kids live healthy!

Momi. Hehehe. So, I was reading this post, and a few things were running in my mind. Tapos I was thinking, next one is praying together, and that was after travel together. E hindi pala, it was having exercise, so I was thinking, next one is praying… no, it is eating. So sabi ko pa rin, next one is praying… AY HINDI, Minola pala. LOL.

Awww. Reminds me of our dinner together when we were young. Grabe, sometimes, we would have devotion pa before kumain tapos feeling namin ang tagal tagal na. Pero now, I really appreciate how my parents nurtured us. Now I miss them even more. Because of the nature of my job now, halos wala din ako kasabay. si Dane kasi kasabay kong kumain lagi dati. 🙁

Perhaps you could make a few adjustments and sacrifices. Now, I regularly eat breakfast with Daniel. One time kasi while Having his breakfast malungkot sya. Malungkot daw kumain mag isa. After nun, I see to it na sasabayan ko sya kumain. He usually eats breakfast at 7am. Then kapag nagising si Yael, I will again eat breakfast. Ihihi.

I am the one who cooks food at home and I am very cautious when it comes to cooking oils kasi nga as you said, deep fried in oil is not the healthiest way of cooking. Kaya it’s good to know about Minola’s Premium Coconut cooking oil and its benefits. Mas maganda pala ang coconut oil for cooking. I will try this one the next time our current cooking oil runs out.

Maintaining family relationship is heart work. I agree, doing physical activities together like playing, running or in our case, baseball and volleyball with the kids (although I’m a faker, hahaha!) can do a lot of wonders>

We’ve also decided to give our kids more attention during meal times. Minsan kasi, we turn on the TV or have our phones or laptops on. Pero now, we intentionally turn off all gadgets.

I totally agree with you that nurturing family relationships need not be expensive or extravagant. My husband’s an OFW, but we make sure that we include him during meal times via FaceTime or Viber–habang kumakain kami dito, kumakain din sya doon, and we get to talk about our day. Traveling and going to theme parks and resorts, as well as watching movies together, will always be among our favorite activities though as a family.

We have a very dynamic and modern family set-up and until my husband remains to work overseas, we will always be this way. It’s a pity that we don’t get to spend every day together so when he does come home, I make sure that we do activities together as a family. We always schedule local and international trips and I make it a point to cook for my family as well. We always try our best to have a semblance of normalcy in the family even with our on and off long distance relationship. Surprisingly, it all works just fine for us.

That's my little man, and seriously, he never tires hugging me any time of the day. If only I've counted the times he hugs me in a day; perhaps it would be about 30 times or more. That plenty!

Maybe, a hug gives our boy a soothing effect and reassures him of his parent's affection. He also attempts to communicate a need after giving his mother a hug and kiss, and that is "dede." There are also times he embraces because he just loves to. .

Instagram post 2190029303177361110_2932287309 I am Berlin and most of our 2019 were spent tandem feeding our four-year-old and two-year-old boys. We have no plans of stopping anytime soonest, unless our two young ones decided to do so. Our milk has been their primary source of nutrition when they were still babies. Now, it continues to help protect our sons against infection and disease. The calcium and iron in our milk are also more easily absorbed by our two children, giving them the added nutrients they need. And we are just so grateful that we have a partner in @vpharmaph for all the MEGA-MALUNGGAY we had and continuously take. More than the healthy dose of natural vitamins like calcium, iron, potassium, and vitamin C we get from each capsule, Mega-Malunggay is proven to be a great galactagogue for lactating moms like me. .

So happy to be part of #VpharmaBrandAmbassadors2020. Excited what 2020 will bring, but we see more breastfeeding still. We also look forward to exploring #VpharmapH 's other quality products. And we hope you are as excited as we are for 2020.
