MOMI REVIEWS| Dandruff no more with Selsun Blue
I live in a small house with five boys. And aside from their big appetite, I have noticed that they are always on the “run.” Morning rush hours, quick morning meals, and fast hair fix. At times, they choose just to have a speedy wash up and sometimes, even missed conditioning their hair.
Perhaps it is for this reason that three of them have a sensitive scalp. White flakes are falling down on their shoulders. At first, I would encourage them to spend more time in the bathroom, shampoo their hair properly, and rinse it longer. All along, I thought those white flakes would instantly be gone if they follow my request.
The truth about dandruff
I have learned that those white flakes aren’t dried shampoo left because of improper washing. Those were excess skin cells that died and fell off. A yeast-like fungus called Malessezia
irritates the scalp and causes more skin cells to grow. And this organism is what frequently causes dandruff
, a chronic, non-inflammatory scalp disorder that is both annoying and itchy. Sadly, it is not only hard to get rid of Malessezia but the fungus is also capable of reproducing fast.
This makes dandruff a health issue that needs to be addressed medically. And it is important to get to the problem to know and apply solutions that can deliver results and make a difference.
There are many anti-dandruff shampoos in the market that provide relief to the annoying itchiness. Sadly, though, the itchiness will come back after some time. It is because most of these anti-dandruff shampoos merely wash off flakes. The fungi in the scalp remain.
Of the many brands of Shampoo and Conditioner my boys have tried, there is one that they truly commend. It is a medicated shampoo which is clinically proven to offer fast and longer-lasting relief against itchiness compared to other dandruff shampoos. Laboratory tests have also proven its effectiveness in treating dandruff and controlling its recurrence. Its active ingredient, Selenium Sulfide
, helps lessen the severity of dandruff, thus helping keep off flakes and itchiness.
The brand, which has gotten better since its launch in the market, has made a comeback in the Philippines this year. And more and more have noticed its effectiveness and improvement.
Selsun Blue to the rescue
Dandruff no more with Selsun Blue
Now available at Mercury Drug and Watsons outlets nationwide, Selsun Blue
‘s new formulation has Honeyquat
ingredient which moisturizes and softens the hair. Further, its hydrating effect makes hair soft and manageable. Its Medicated formula
has added Menthol to soothe itchy scalp while its 2-in-1 variant
has Hyaluronic Acid and Vitamin B5 to condition hair deeply.
The 2-in-1 formula is what my husband and boys are using now. And they all attest that this variant makes bathing easy by washing and conditioning their hair at the same time. In just one stroke, they can have a soft and smooth hair in a zip. And because of its dandruff-control formulation, it allows their scalp to be itch-free for the rest of the day.
They are yet to try the Medicated formula and are also positive of the same promising effect.
Dandruff no more with Selsun Blue
Problem no more
Again, dandruff is a health issue that needs to be addressed medically. It is important to get to the root of the problem to know and apply solutions that can deliver results. And my boys finally found a brand that brings solution and makes a difference. And that is Selsun Blue. Husband is all but praises to the effectiveness of the brand in treating dandruff and controlling its recurrence. He uttered one morning after his bath, “Selsun Blue attacks the root source of dandruff.”
See and feel the difference, too. It might be the solution you’ve been waiting for so long.
