MOMI MUSINGS/ the power of positive-thinking gives me TURON!

Jun 24, 2016 | Life, Only Berlin

They say that optimists believe that their own actions result in positive things happening.  Exactly what happened to me!

After checking with the boys that they do not have any assignments, I’ve decided to do our monthly grocery instead.  I don’t need to be home early.

What happened though when you squeeze grocery into your tight schedule?

You ended up with a rumbling stomach.   But the power of positivity did something wonderful to this ever hopeful mother.

Left with only two options, I preferred to play SM Supermarket’s pachingko game than grab something to munch.   My mother would be furious if I spend another minute buying food.   Brainwashing my mind of the positive-thinking conspiracy was so effective  that even heaven and earth conspired.  I got what I want — food.  In the form though of … turon (banana lumpia or banana spring roll with caramel sauce) 🙂

Turon with caramel sauce? What a treat! I certainly believe that positive thinking is one of the things that made me lead a good life. I feel that you are that kind of person too. Short and fantastic read. Thanks for sharing!

Hmm, I am a bit confused but very happy that you’re no longer hungry. I am glad your positive thinking worked. It’s always better to be optimistic anyways. Your food sounded delicious and is making me hungry thinking about it.

I would love to try turon. I like anything with banana. But what is SM Supermarket’s pachingko game? I’ve never heard of a game you can play in the supermarket. I’ve seen plenty of pachinko parlors in Japan but I’m not actually sure how you play.

Turon is a Philippine snack made of thinly sliced bananas and others put jackfruit on it, then rolled with brown sugar, put inside a spring roll wrapper then deep fried. It is sweet and really delicious.

The pachingko game is yes, somehow similar with the pachinko parlors in Japan. The gamer would release the ball and if the ball settles in a certain location, he would get what is indicated in that box/location. Yes, he gets to exchange the ball for prizes.

Looks like you really got what you wished for. LOL. Its funny that moms rarely have “alone” time. My “alone time” is when I go to the market, do the grocery shopping or go to the drugstore to get a prescription refill.

Another entertaining story from momi berlin 🙂 Going to the supermarkets hungry is one thing I have stopped doing , I spend double as much money as I would do normally 🙂 And I always buy a lot of sweet stuff then , am I right in thinking that your Turon is a sweety ? We’ve got Turron in Spain , that is made of nougat , sometimes with almonds or nuts in .Delicious and so bad for the teeth ! LOL

Hahhaa. Seems like the Turron in Spain is something I would surely enjoy. OUr turon here has banana inside and caramelized sugar to make it sweet. Yes, it may also be bad for the teeth.
