MOMI MUSINGS/  Our life’s riches

Sep 21, 2015 | Life, Love, Only Berlin

We are not rich. There are a number of times that we prioritize what to pay first, even disregard those that can wait, and most often set aside our own needs just so to provide for the boys.

It’s only husband who works for the family while I am left at home to look after the three boys and now our new born baby. Aside from the daily cleaning and cooking, I am also in charge of the weekly marketing and helping the boys with their school works. Husband helps with the ironing of clothes. Getting the services of a house help will surely add up to our expenses, thus we do the cleaning ourselves. Even the boys share some household responsibilities. I know they would want to complain sometimes, wondering why they need to work at home while their classmates could play COC all day on weekends. But because they are courteous and responsible, they would rather keep to themselves their displeasure or perhaps, even resentment.

Last Friday, my boys got home from school. My second son appeared to be heartbroken. Then he approached me. In his most sincere and sorrowful voice, he told me he unintentionally broke his eyeglasses. It broke right in the middle on the little nose bridge part and he put some scotch tape to bring the two pieces together.

I would want to be angry with him, but he must have suffered enough– even condemned himself — that I chose not to chastise him.

Then I texted husband. Perhaps, I would want to let go of the frustration I felt.

1ST MESSAGE

Our life’s riches

Husband took everything calmly. I, too, preferred to be the understanding and forgiving mother that moment expects. The damage has been done and nothing we can do to unwind everything.

2ND MESSAGE

Our life’s riches

3RDMESSAGE

Our life’s riches

Our life’s riches

We aren’t rich. We cannot buy every wants and sometimes even some needs. We schedule bills payment, even family diners. We seldom have family getaways.

But we see the importance of family… of what understanding, love, and acceptance can do to our boys that money cannot in no way buy.

I guess our riches- as of now- are our boys. They are very understanding and hardworking, enough to enjoy life and be grateful to the Lord.

How about you, what are your life’s riches?

I feel you because we’re wearing eyeglasses too and I know how expensive it is. But accidents do happen, need ko rin yata maging kalma pag umuwi anak ko at sira salamin. Waah! We’re not rich too but I’m blessed to have a good son and husband. 🙂

Tip mother! If you’re near Quiapo.. that’s the best place for eyeglasses..usually we buys in 2s (just in case masira) kaso rowdy talaga ang boys ko at talagang nasisira nila eyeglasses nila… next time na bibili kame, I’m going to buy 3 frames na + 2 lenses haha

Divisoria daw, mommy. We also need to get frames and glasses and we were advised to know our eye grades then purchase the glasses in Divi. They’re durable and nice. We saw our neighbor’s .:)

Divisoria here we come. Hahaha. Three of us in the small house use glasses so it would be a worthwhile trip then. Thank you and see you when I see you in Divisoria. Ihihi.

I’m very moved by your post. Particularly the part where you guys use Tagalog to communicate, ang ganda pakinggan! Good eyeglasses are a sound investment that’s why they are expensive. I hope your son gets his eyeglasses soon. Tip: buy frames somewhere else and just have lens fitted for it! Saves you about 30-70% depending on the shop and if there’s a sale. Ideal Vision has excellent service, you can almost ask them to customize it for you. My family and I are patrons, kasi halos lahat kaming magkakapatid even my papa and mama need glasses.

Thank you so much for sharing this! It might not be easy to admit social status, but I’m so proud that you wrote this. Mind if I share your blog post on my channel sometime?

Right now my riches would be my lifetime and my little girl. I think those that fall under the riches are the ones that are intangible. We only pay money for experiences that could be memories. 🙂

Thank you so much. Surely, you may.

Yes, the little man now has his eyeglasses. And inasmuch as we would like to buy him a cheaper one, we still opt for May pangalan. Kahit papano, alam na namin yung quality. And yes, my boys’ eyeglasses are all from ideal vision, sm Novaliches. Friendly pa sila and whenever Masira nose pad, it’s free unlike others na we need to pay p100.00 pa.

Again, thank you. And hello to the little girl.

That’s true, I’ve had dozens of nosepads replaced. Mas maayos ang service nila than EO. Have you found eyeglasses na for your boy? Hello din from me and Avis!

Eyeglasses blues! Just weeks ago, we spent on my Nanay’s eyeglasses and ophtha check up. Grabe ang gastos! Mommies are right, sa Quiapo mura. Check out the eye clinics in Paterno Street, Quiapo. Usually the big eye clinics in the malls bring their job orders in Quiapo. Doon ginagawa at inoorder ang lens. Makapunta na nga this week!

How honest of your son is to tell you right away that his eyeglasses broke and I felt how sad he was about it. And I agree that the real riches of any person is not what could be bought, it’s the intangible things like family, love, happiness, friends, peace and contentment. I’m happy for you that you’ve got an intact family and you and your husband are bringing up the kids well. 🙂

Thank you, too, for appreciating our story. Yes, he appreciated the gesture, kitang kita sa face Nya ang naghihintay na pagalitan. But I thank the Lord more for helping me control myself and think of what to do. Thanks again. 🙂
