Why I’m Paying Attention to This Big Global News And You Might Want To, Too
I’m a mom to five boys. I’ve homeschooled them, read stories to them until they could read on their own (and even after that), and I’ve always believed that when we nurture minds, we raise people who will shape the world with kindness, confidence, and knowledge.

So while I usually talk about books, motherhood, and the occasional kitchen chaos, today I want to talk about something that may sound like it’s from another world: a big business story involving VFS Global and a Brazilian company called CiX Citizen Experience.
Why does this matter to a mom like me?
Because underneath all the business-speak is a story about people and how we can make it easier for families like ours to live better, simpler, more connected lives.
What Happened?
VFS Global, a global company that works with governments to manage services like visas and IDs, just acquired a majority stake in CiX Citizen Experience. CiX is a Brazilian company that’s been quietly transforming how millions of people access critical public services, think government IDs, driver’s licenses, and other documents that can be a hassle to get done.
CiX has helped over 150 million people in Brazil by managing over 250 service centers nationwide. With VFS Global’s support, CiX is gearing up to bring this kind of smart, citizen-centred service to even more places across Latin America and beyond.
Why Moms Should Care
As a mom, I spend so much time handling life admin, whether it’s renewing a passport, sorting out documents for school, or helping my older kids prepare for travel and applications. It can be overwhelming and time-consuming, especially when systems are outdated or hard to navigate.
But what if those processes were made easier?
What if applying for a child’s ID, or renewing a license, were as intuitive and straightforward as ordering a book online?
That’s the dream this partnership is working toward—using technology, including AI, to create efficient and user-friendly government services that don’t waste our time, patience, or energy. The kind of systems that respect how busy family life is and support us instead of slowing us down.
A Step Toward More Accessible, Family-Friendly Government Services

This new collaboration between VFS Global and CiX aims to create a Center of Excellence, a model of how public services should work: faster, smarter, and kinder to the people who need them most.
This feels like one more piece of the puzzle in building a better world for our kids. In a world where innovation isn’t just about flashy apps or fancy tech, but about real-world changes that make life better, starting with the basics, like being able to access your rights and services easily and reasonably.
Stories That Matter
As an author and a believer in stories, I know that not all essential stories come as bedtime tales. Some are written in boardrooms and government offices, but they affect our everyday lives just the same.
This is one of those stories. And as a mom who’s raising boys to become thoughtful, compassionate citizens of the world, I’m all for efforts that put people first, especially when it comes to simplifying the systems we all depend on.
So yes, this is business news, but it’s also a hopeful glimpse into a future where moms like us can spend less time lining up at government offices and more time doing what matters: building memories, nurturing dreams, and reading one more story before bedtime.
