Building a Better Future
As a mom, my world revolves around my family—keeping them safe, ensuring they have what they need, and making choices that will shape a better future for them. That’s why I find it truly inspiring when businesses take meaningful steps toward sustainability. It’s not just about profits; it’s about creating a world where our kids can breathe clean air, enjoy nature, and have access to opportunities that help them thrive.
Recently, BDO Unibank released its 2nd ASEAN Sustainability Bond Impact Report, detailing how the funds from its Php52.7 billion sustainability bond have been used to support projects that directly impact families, communities, and the environment. For moms like me, these aren’t just numbers—these are real, tangible efforts that touch our daily lives.
Investing in a Greener Future for Our Kids
A huge part of the bond proceeds—Php38.4 billion—went into environmental projects focused on renewable energy, green buildings, and sustainable infrastructure. This means more solar and wind energy projects, reducing harmful emissions and making our power sources cleaner. Imagine a future where our children can grow up in cities with fresher air and greener spaces. That’s a future I want for my family.
Supporting Communities That Put Food on Our Tables
Beyond environmental efforts, BDO also allocated Php14.4 billion toward social projects that uplift communities. As a mom, I know how crucial it is to support local farmers, fishermen, and small business owners—the very people who work tirelessly to provide food and essential goods for our families. Through microfinance and funding for the agriculture and fisheries sectors, BDO is helping sustain jobs and livelihoods, ensuring that these industries remain strong for generations to come.
A Commitment to a Brighter Tomorrow
What I love about this initiative is that it aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on clean energy, sustainable communities, and climate action. It’s reassuring to know that businesses like BDO are taking real steps to create lasting change—not just for today, but for the world our children will inherit.
As moms, we do everything we can to nurture, protect, and guide our families toward a better future. It’s heartening to see companies embrace that same mindset on a larger scale, making sure that the world we pass down to our kids is one they can thrive in.
Because at the end of the day, sustainability isn’t just a corporate responsibility; it’s a promise to every mother, every child, and every future generation.
