Our little one just loves brushing his teeth. The secret in encouraging him to do? We got him a cute toothbrush he simply cannot resist. Also, his toothpaste should be the flavor he loves the most.
How to make brushing more fun?
Just like our 20-month-old boy, his three older brothers also enjoy cleaning their teeth. Good thing we were able to instill in them the importance of brushing the teeth especially before hitting the sack. How then do we encourage our kids to make brushing fun and essential? Let me count the ways:
Show a video on “the dangers of not brushing your teeth before bed”
Good thing husband took charge and gathered the boys. Just before bedtime, he showed a video of the dangers of not brushing the teeth. The short flick showed the formation of plaque which may irritate the gums from the inside and eventually lead to gum bleeding. The video must have affected the boys that much that they take brushing seriously.
Join kids in brushing the teeth
When the boys were still toddlers, I often clean my teeth at the same time as my boys. Because kiddos love to imitate their elders, they tend to mirror how I brush my teeth. Now that they claim to be grown-ups, they still carry the habit of brushing their teeth at least two times a day. With our 20-month-old son, we shower at the same time. He also loves imitating me and even offers to brush my teeth.
Use a toothpaste designed for kids
Sometimes, toothpaste has an unpleasant taste for kids. To encourage them to brush their teeth, we buy them toothpaste specially designed for children. What they use has a naturally sweet taste that makes teeth cleaning a more pleasant experience. Now that they are grown-ups, the habit of visiting the bathroom after each meal is still very much intact. As for our little man, he also loves his toothpaste same as with his toothbrush.
Use attractive toothbrush
One thing I have noticed is that youngsters are easily attracted with vibrant colors. They also like using things with designs they love, such is the newest Colgate’s Minions toothbrush.
Our nearly two year old boy particularly loves his Colgate’s Minions toothbrush and toothpaste. This set – Colgate Minions Kids 2-5 Years Old (Junior) Oral Care Pack – is readily available online. Lazada also has the Colgate Minions Kids 5-9 Years Old (Youth) Oral Care Pack. Both has a specially-designed toothbrush which kids would surely love to repeatedly use.
Make brushing more fun
Make teeth-cleaning more fun with these easy tips. Surely, your little tots would form the habit of brushing their teeth and would even regard you as the coolest mom! But more than anything, it is that setting the stage for a lifetime of good oral hygiene that we are after.
Ow, by the way, with sparkling white teeth to flaunt, we are confident to flash our sincerest and loveliest smile.
Perhaps I should also show Nate a video about the outcome of not brushing his teeth! Ako kasi, I didn’t care when I was young. I don’t want that to happen to him. Kaso meron na din konting mga sira sa ngipin nya ngayon, even though he brushes twice a day.
These cute minion toothbrushes will make brushing even more fun for kids. It is not really hard for us to encourage Neo to take care of his teeth by brushing them, but cute toothbrushes will still help.
Oooh I’m sure our son would ask for this toothbrush once he finds out it’s available. He loves the Minions! I hope it would indeed make him enjoying brushing his teeth more.
yeah, i find it effective to buy the kids toothbrushes with designs they like too. we’re the same. i don’t do videos though, I did that when we were potty training naman, haha!
Little man have that kind of toothbrush and he super loves it. Having that kind of kiddie toothbrush motivates little one to brush teeth
So cute of your little man to love brushing his teeth with the minions toothbrush. 🙂
I really like these cute minion tooth brush! gusto kung bilhan c Zd nito gustong gusto nya Berns… sabi nya “mama look cute banana minion toothbrush” hehehe! Ngayon si Zd magaling na sya mag brush ng teeth nya 2 yrs old palang kasi sinasama namin sya ni Lemuel mag brush ng teeth ginagawa naming bonding. Kaya na enjoy nya ay maaga nyang natutunan.
After bath, I intentionally didn’t give my kids their toothbrush. Nagalit sakin. Hehehe. It is really important to instill good dental hygiene to our kids 🙂
Cute toothbrushes make brushing a fun experience for the kids talaga. That’s what I did with my 2 older girls. With my youngest, I let him ‘brush’ his teeth on his own and he thoroughly enjoyed!
We super love our Minions toothoaste and toothbrush! Sayang that we were not able to attend the screening last time. It coincided with the family’s Father’s day celeb kasi.
