This mother attended an advent recollection last Saturday. She yearns to be liberated from her guilt– not having enough patience to be the loving mother her boys deserve. Oftentimes, she lets stress eat her up, thus spoiling her relationship with her children. She thinks her boys follow her not out of respect and love but because of fear. And she does not like that. She needs to do some reflection. And very timely that Tina of Truly Rich and Blessed was then scheduled to conduct an advent recollection for moms at The Parenting Emporium.
She made confirmation only the night before the recollection. And on the day itself, she backed out because the rain kept on pouring. She had to commute with a four-month baby in tow.
The husband must have felt her sadness as she withdrew herself from them. A minute after, he knocked at the bedroom door and told his wife he will accompany her and the baby at the recollection venue.
The recollection lasted for about an hour. Though short, she was able to grasp the idea of “how to decorate her heart with joy and hope instead of negative comments and discouragement. That she could only fully appreciate her boys if she first makes a room in her heart for Jesus. That she has to thank Jesus for the gift of children because without them, her life will surely be empty.
The recollection ended with a prayer she now recites every morning and evening or anytime she feels the need to remind herself that she is a loving parent and not a critic to her boys.
I thank you Lord for this experience. And I must say that like Tina, I am also truly rich and blessed.
such a nice reflection, Mommy, not only during the Advent season should we feel loved and blessed, but everyday. 🙂 Every night, my husband and I would reflect on and share the things we’re thankful for the day. Thanks for sharing, Mommy. 🙂
such nice words you have there. perhaps, i should also practice that every night. Thank you.
may we all feel this all days, every year and not just during the holidays. there’s so much we have to be thankful for despite the crisis and political drama that we are experiencing in this country.
yes, indeed. 🙂
I think with all the busyness we have during Christmas it is good to reflect on its meaning. Thanks for sharing mommy!
yes, i agree. thanks as well, mommy.
Nice reflection. I sometimes loose my temper too.. especially on my 7 year old, who is so playful and kulit. It is difficult to stay patient sometime, right? But before i really loose it, i close my eyes and pray for guidance.
Yes, patience is very much needed in dealing with children. I also need to do that close your eyes and then pray for guidance. Thanks.
Yeah, must be an enriching experience! I’ve attended a similar recollection at my kids’ school, too, and it was truly inspiring! 🙂
Yes, inspiring indeed. I just hope I’m not ningas kugon here. Prayers will definitely be helpful.
So inspiring! I needed this. Sometimes stress eat me up too and I feel guilty. Stay strong and faithful, mommy! God will always stay at our side and support us.(:
Yes, may God be always by our side. Thank you.
Aww I would have loved to attend that recollection, too. You’re right; we are truly rich and blessed!

Yes, truly blessed especially with kids around. Thank you for taking time to read.
Yes, we are truly blessed. That reflection is a reminder for us to always ask God’s help to give us strength and fill our hearts with joy despite the challenges of parenthood.
Yes, indeed. 🙂
Nice reflection mommy, such a good encouragement 🙂 we’re so blessed with so many blessings, we should be thankful for everything not just on this season but in all the days of our life.
I’m hoping to I learn from my past and that this 2016 I be a better mama to my boys. They are my blessings from God and they all deserve my love and patience. And one way to show my appreciation to God is by taking care of my children. Thank you for your encouragement.
I guess I need a similar recollection, too, to be a better mom to my son. Happy New Year!
Happy new year to you, too. Yes, our children deserve only the best mama. 🙂
Really nice reflections there mum. At times that I feel my patience slowly thin out I pause and just pray. Helps me a lot 🙂
Yes, I promise myself that should stress and problems come my way, all I need to do is pray as well. Thanks for your valuable opinion. Helps me, too.
Nice reflections, mommy 🙂 Sometimes I feel overwhelmed and stressed being a wife, a mother, and a home manager. I need a similar recollection. 😀
I saw the ad for the advent recollection but was unable to join.
Yes, we mommies tend to be overwhelmed by all the duties and responsibilities that in the end, it’s our loved ones who suffer most. Try to recite the prayer shared in the post, it might help. 🙂
Sometimes I feel the same being eaten up by stress and my son and husband suffer, that is why when I am home my focus is with them
Here’s to us moms who always want the best for our family- may we, through God’s guidance, focus on understanding, love , and patience in dealing with our family.
