I am a homemaker. I decided to resign from my corporate work about two years ago and concentrate on looking after my children. We’ve got three boys and that time, I was pregnant with our fourth.
I admit that with my first three boys, I let the yaya be in charge of my children. That includes playtime, bedtime, and even mealtime. I was so busy with work and so was my husband. My three boys all grow up healthy and wise. But if only I could bring back time, I would have chosen to be with them since the very beginning.
Why?
Now that they are all claiming to be grown ups, they could be real picky and often, that stresses me a lot.
Healthy eating habit starts with parents
Eating healthy is a habit that begins early in life. And the parents or guardians play a big role in giving a solid start for the kids’ nutrition.
Being busy with work then, I preferred processed food for breakfast. Though I cooked vegetables and protein for lunch and dinner, the variations weren’t too wide as I seldom experiment. I opted to serve almost the same meal every week. We were also conscious about our budget thus I rarely bought fruits for the boys. Though they ate regularly and didn’t skip a meal, I wasn’t able to give them a balanced diet and a good start of the proper eating habit.
Fast forward 13 years after giving birth to my Firstborn, we were blessed to have a new baby in the family. Husband and I decided then that I stay at home to look after the boys and be with our newborn. This gave me the opportunity to start anew and put much effort to my family’s nutrition.
Food variety and healthy diet
After I resigned from work, the kitchen became my workstation. My kids would often see me chopping vegetables or marinating beef and chicken. I constantly whip up vegetable or fruit bread and cakes. I got the courage to experiment, serve a variety of meals, and introduce new healthy food options.
Our newborn benefited a lot from this kind of set up. I not only breastfeed him but also serve homemade food. I mash, puree, and blend vegetables, fruits, and proteins. In the process, making my baby’s food helps me think more about what I am feeding my child. And it paves the way for making healthier meals, even for the whole family.
Fun and healthy snacking for the baby
Now that our baby is nearing his toddler stage, he can be real picky. But he still loves fruits and home baked goodies. As an alternate to those I whip and bake at home, there’s one fun healthy snack my 22-month-old son loves. He enjoys snacking on some CERELAC® NUTRIPUFFS®.
CERELAC® NUTRIPUFFS® is a cereal-based snack made with whole wheat and fruit bits. A good source of iron, Vitamin B1, and fiber, CERELAC® NUTRIPUFFS® comes in two exciting flavors – Banana & Strawberry and Banana and Orange.
Another thing that I love about this cereal snack is its fun star shape. It amazes me that the makers of CERELAC® NUTRIPUFFS® even thought of creating ways to help babies develop their oral and fine motor skills through eating.
This finger food supports motor development and independent feeding. It is because the shapes of CERELAC® NUTRIPUFFS® are specifically designed to help babies develop their chewing and self-feeding skills. They also easily melt in the mouth and are easy to chew.
Momi approves CERELAC® NUTRIPUFFS®
Reinforce the benefits of healthy food to your kids. It is prudent to start them early. Let them appreciate home cooked meals over processed ones and commercially produced food. And should you occasionally give them ready-to-eat food and snacks, be sure to look for a brand known for its good safety records. This mom recommends CERELAC® NUTRIPUFFS® as one healthy option that kids would surely love and look forward to having.
Available in leading supermarkets and drugstores nationwide, CERELAC® NUTRIPUFFS® is suitable for children 10 months and above. One could also buy it online through Lazada.
When my son started eating solids, I also cooked/mashed veggies for his meal but he doesn’t like it. He was a picky eater so mashed fruits and cerelac lang gusto niya. Wala pa Nutripuffs nun. 🙂
Hihihi. kaya masarap ngayong magkaanak e. Marami ng bago, Nutripuffs included. My son on the other hand, super love mashed food and pureed kaya no problem giving him those kind of food.
I also have no regrets when I left the corporate world for my son. You know what’s the best part? I can have unlimited hugs and kisses whenever I want hehehe. We haven’t tried the Nutripuffs but it looks like a great alternative. I will recommend this to my sister-in-law, her daughter is a picky eater.
Yes, no regrets indeed. Our boys will not hug us every day and anytime we want so might as well seize the moment. Yes, Nutripuffs can be a great alternate. Surely your pamangkin would love the texture and shape plus of course, the taste.
There are a lot of new innovations that aids moms of today. From food to tools and a lot more. Dati, all we have are either junk food that’s bad for our kids or home-made food that’s not easy to make. Ngayon, there are things like these na – healthy and easy. 🙂
Haven’t tried this one yet. Pero when Chen2 was still a baby, inaagawan ko sya ng Cerelac, sarap na sarap kami dito dati. lol. Kawawang bata, andaming ka kompetensya sa pagkain nya. lol.
Cereals for babies! Wala pa nito dati, parang gusto ko itry (but then kailangan may isa pang baby haha)
Nutrition is very important, especially from gestation stage until 4 years old. Medyo late ko lang din nalaman so now I’m making up for it. It’s not too late naman to change our eating habits. One way or another our family will benefit from the change, no matter how small. 🙂
