MOMI SPEAKS| Breastfeeding is #BestFeeding

Aug 22, 2016 | Life, Love, Only Berlin

I am one breastfeeding momi and I am proud of it.  Though my journey as a mom started more than 14 years ago, it is only now with my fourth child that I am able to breastfeed directly. We are on this journey for more than  one year already because I always believe that breastfeeding is #bestfeeding

MOMI SPEAKS| Breastfeeding is #BestFeeding

I make milk and that is my superpower. I always believe breastfeeding is #BestFeeding

It has long been studied and proven that the benefits of breastfeeding are unmatched by any other.  And to learn more about this noble cause, I always free my schedule anytime I learned of breastfeeding seminars and talks.  Though I have read a lot of stories and articles about breastfeeding, meeting breastfeeding moms and experts is another avenue to learn and have fun as well.   Luckily, I got an invite from Pigeon when they recently launched its Only Moms Breastfeeding Advocacy.

As a world-leading manufacturer of quality baby care products for nearly 50 years, Pigeon reaches out to numerous moms and moms-to-be to learn more about this unique and phenomenal ability of moms to breastfeed their babies.  As part of its week-long event at the third floor of SM Makati, Pigeon showcases breastfeeding solutions booths, gives amazing prizes and offers big discounts just in time for the Breastfeeding Month.  And last Sunday, Pigeon staged a short yet informative talk to let moms and dads learn why breastfeeding is indeed #BestFeeding, both in terms of health and practicality.  It was also the most opportune time for others to know and appreciate what breastfeeding moms go through and for them to secure help and support.

I once again met certified parenting and lactation expert Abbie Yabot.  She gave tips and sound advice about breastfeeding solutions.   Richwell Phils Inc. COO Maye Yao Co Say, on the other hand, shared her own insights on why breastfeeding be given more importance. And Pigeon Brand Ambassador Shamcey Supsup-Lee humbly related her own breastfeeding journey.

The beauty queen shared that she eats a lot of malunggay and does power pumping to make sure she produces more milk.  She likewise pointed out that “the breast pump is great because I can continue to make sure I have enough for  Nyke even when I’m not always with her.”

At the end of the talk, moms and dads learned that though nothing is absolutely wrong with formula feeding, breast milk though is still considered the best nutritional choice for infants and growing babies.

I am breastfeeding my son for more than a year now.  We’ve encountered problems as well before we reach this stage.  For the first few days, I felt there was no milk coming.  I just took the advice of the hospital’s midwife and I continued latching and breastfeeding. After a week, I could produce milk more than my son needs so I pump every so often to build my stash.  I also keep in mind that the more milk I express, the more my body will produce. And together with this journey is my Pigeon ten-year-old breast pump.

I am no expert in breastfeeding.  As I have mentioned, it is only with my fourth son that I am able to breastfeed directly.  With my first three, I only pumped as much as I could. And if to compare, nothing beats the fulfilling satisfaction of being able to breastfeed your child.  And so, I encourage moms-to-be and moms with infants to attend or listen to as many breastfeeding talks as you can.  They truly help.  And I am sharing this because I declare myself as a breastfeeding advocate.  Any support we receive plays a crucial part in our as well as our baby’s breastfeeding journey.

I really admire breastfeeding mothers. I’ve always known that it’s the best way to feed babies. But until a friend recently gave birth, I didn’t know it’s a bit difficult for some people. She’s thinking on giving it up after 6 months, but I hope she can continue!

Those are good products, some we have also used. Although we used Avent bottles, most other stuff were Pigeon.

We used to buy in bulk too, like the wet wipes, because we use up a lot of them. Default go to, SM Baby and Co.

Why are those babies on the picture so cute? They are soooo adorable!
And of course I agree that breast feeding is best feeding!

Perhaps they have the most beautiful moms as well. Yes, i agree too. Breastfeeding gives the nutrients a baby needs plus it creates a beautiful bond between the mom and child.

I am not a mother yet so I can’t say I can relate haha.. But I do know some friends who advocate breastfeeding so I know a little bit about eating malunggay or those lactation cookies. If ever I become a mother, I want to be able to produce many milk too, just because I believe it is better for kids to drink milk straight from the mother than those formula ones.

It’s been a long time since I was in this space given my ‘babies’ are now 24 & 21. I think women should be allowed choice to chose (or sometime not to chose) between breastfeeding or formula without guilt. I am really glad that breastfeeding is working out for you but for those who can’t as you point out there is nothing wrong with formula.

Your fourth son looks so cute 🙂 Anyway, I’m not yet a mother, but I’m aware that breastfeeding has great benefits for babies. I do hope once I become a mom in the future, I get to breastfeed too. It’s a better and cheaper alternative to the expensive infant formulas.

We use Pigeon products also for our babies’ things. When we run out of stock and there is no stock of this brand, we use an alternative brand that is also baby-safe. 😉 Too bad, we had to go to the pediatrician last Saturday. Would have loved to join this event.

If you can breast feed, I thinks it’s really the best for a baby. But as well for the mother. It’s such a good bonding process too.

I really really hope I can breastfeed my lo once she’s out. I’m a first time mom and I’m just counting the days before my lo will be born. I’m excited and nervous at the same time. Hopefully in the future, I can attend mommy events na!

I envy breastfeeding moms. I only got to breastfeed my son for six months and had to stop because I was taking medications then. Good job, mommy!

I admire mothers who breastfeed. Some moms don’t do this and I don’t understand why. Thanks for this inspiring story and you are a great Mom! Looking forward for more mommy stories 🙂

I have been exclusively nursing my 4month old son now, and its awsome! It has made me feel better, my son feel better, and it has created a closer bond between us. Nursing at night is a breeze! My little guy can find my nipple in the dark without a problem, I can latch him on and go right back to sleep without a hitch! I do get more sleep than the average formula feeding mom, and I dont have the mess to worry about in the morning when I wake up!

Breastfeeding is indeed one of the best and healthiest milk to feed babies… but yeah some mothers can’t breastfeed their babies for different reasons I think. My mom couldn’t breastfeed me and my brother well coz as she shared, we didn’t like her milk or something like that. If you can breastfeed your little one that would be really great. I’m not yet a mom though and being a parent seems pretty far off at the moment. Anyway, you’ve got a cute baby!

I am an advocate of breastfeeding. It’s the best choice for babies, but only if the moms can handle it. There are women who will have a difficult time breastfeeding and if that’s the case then there’s no need to pressure or judge them. This sounds like a great event, there’s nothing like promoting the benefits of breastfeeding!

I applaud moms who can breastfeed and those who do what they can to at least provide breast milk even if it means pumping night and day just to get enough milk for their babies. This is a nice event, raising awareness and promoting breastfeeding is something that we should really do.

Breast feeding is the best for infants. In fact it is the best support food even after 6 months till the child itself wears away.

Breastfeeding is well known to be beneficial for the baby. I think the next thing we should advocate is allowing breastfeeding in public area, or should I say allocate specific locations for breastfeeding in public!

Breastfeeding is the best for babies! My friend told me before that the very first drop of milk from the mommy’s breast should be given to the baby since all of the nutrients and anti bodies needed by the newly born is there. I don’t have a child of my own but I plan to breastfeed my soon to be baby.
