The most common of all clichés I’ve heard. Sounds so close to the truth, but still, I am uncertain if reality favors TIME HEALS ALL WOUNDS.
THE HORRIBLE DOUGHNUT
May 11, 2011
Momi Berlin brought home a box of Gonuts Donuts. Firstborn and Second son took their pick, while Bunso got the peanut butter-flavoured doughnut and took a bite. He leaned near my face and whispered, “Tastes horrible.” Then grinned.
No doubt, he heard the word HORRIBLE in one television show.
A few of those moments when my boys show grown up choices and otherwise. Makes this momi laugh and cry at the same time –

Had our monthly grocery yesterday. And my 12-year old son got this for his personal use.
I am missing these now. Almost every weekend, our small house is literally converted into a carnival. But that was two years ago. Now, the boys prefer to watch TV programs (basketball, Science of Stupid, etc) though they would still play chess once in a while. The small house is quieter now (our baby seldom cries). Missing these –
This mother was heartbroken. Everyday, she would wake up at 4:30 am to cook breakfast and prepare the baon of her boys. She learned though that her two boys didn’t eat the pancit sotanghon she cooked for their recess. The Bunso didn’t even open his lunchbox.
She felt so unimportant and disrespected.
They say that optimists believe that their own actions result in positive things happening. Exactly what happened to me!
After checking with the boys that they do not have any assignments, I’ve decided to do our monthly grocery instead. I don’t need to be home early.
What happened though when you squeeze grocery into your tight schedule?
You ended up with a rumbling stomach. But the power of positivity did something wonderful to this ever hopeful mother.

Our lady neighbor asked her children to go inside and take a bath. They handed over to Bunso his plastic sword and gun. The little lad waited outside for his playmates to return. I encouraged my son to just wait inside, but he refused. Bunso was heartbroken.
I got a bottle of Yakult and a pouch of kisses from the refrigerator. “Bunso, mama prepared something for the little boy,” I called. He hurriedly climbed up the chair and consumed everything in minutes.
It’s back to school again and as usual, this mother needs to wake up early to prepare food and help the boys with their own preparation.
To save time, I thought of cooking different dishes but with the same preparation needs.
WHAT IS A JOURNALIST?
March 5, 2012
We are watching The Unit, an American action-drama series about top military secrets modeled after the real-life US Army special operations unit commonly known as Delta Force. One episode shows a group of military men rescuing a journalist.
Second son: What is a journalist, papa?
Husband: Ask mama. She is a journalist.
Second son: Ah! I got it. Someone who journeys a lot.
Momi Berlin: (to husband) Was that the impression I created to this household?
