Visa and Maya Partners

Visa, a global leader in digital payments, has formed a partnership with Maya, the leading digital bank and fintech ecosystem in the Philippines. Together, they aim to introduce a new feature called cross-border account funding transactions (AFT) within the Maya app. This launch enables users to transfer funds directly from foreign-issued Visa cards into their Maya wallets, providing them with an easier way to manage their money while in the Philippines.

This feature offers a timely solution for Filipinos living or working abroad. It is also helpful to foreign tourists and freelancers who frequently manage payments from outside the country. Once funds are added from their overseas Visa cards, users can instantly spend, save, or invest through the Maya app. This makes money management more convenient than ever.

Make digital payments even more flexible

“Our longstanding partnership with Maya continues to grow from strength to strength, and with this latest collaboration, we help make digital payments even more flexible. By enabling funding transactions from foreign-issued Visa cards, we provide Maya users with the power and convenience to manage their finances effortlessly, while ensuring seamless and secure transactions. This connects them to countless possibilities through their Maya accounts,” said Jeffrey Navarro, Visa Country Manager for the Philippines.

Maya’s growing reputation as a leader in digital banking is backed by its strong track record. Visa has recognized Maya for driving the highest e-commerce and contactless payment volumes in the country from 2021 to 2024. It is also recognized as the top acquirer in merchant transaction volume. This latest update reinforces their shared goal of pushing boundaries in digital finance while making things simpler for users.

“With this new feature, we’re making it easier for Filipinos and OFWs to move money from their Visa cards abroad straight into their Maya wallets. Maya has redefined how we spend, save, and invest—and we’re pleased to bring the same ease and flexibility to cross-border payments,” said Khurram Malik, Group Chief Commercial Officer of Maya.

This development makes managing international funds as easy as a few taps in the Maya app. And this certainly helps more people experience smart and seamless money movement across borders.
