Most ladies I know take care of their hair, face, and skin. They invest in products that promise to keep them looking youthful and beautiful. They change hairstyle, buy beauty products and makeup, and visit a slimming center to maintain the look they would want to achieve. Does that mean they enslave themselves to absurd beauty standards? It may appear shallow, but the truth is attractiveness plays into most parts of our lives, including being accepted and liked.
It is back to school for my boys! And though they always look forward to summer vacation, they can’t deny as well their excitement to return to school and be with their friends.
I remember when I was in first-year high school. Though excited to see my new school, it was embarrassing as it was also the first day of my period. I felt uncomfortable changing pads in a school comfort room. I was paranoid about leaks through my underwear and school skirt. And I did not enjoy those prying eyes as I carry a sanitary napkin for my every nappy change.
