Got so many drafts and saw this entry. This was written last January 16, 2013 when my Firstborn was just 10 years old. Now, he is such a grown up man. But he still possesses that same responsible and helpful characteristics. I guess this post deserves a space here.

My firstborn son is now 10 years old. He still plays Ninjago and Hot Wheels. He enjoys Play Station and Timezone. My son enjoys anything that spells F U N !

And I never thought he could be very considerate and selfless. Bad mama.

I am on my 39th weeks of pregnancy. My OB Gyne mentioned that anytime within the week, I may give birth. I’ve been experiencing contractions starting end of June so I also believe that my due date is nearing.

Inducing labor

As I have been told, labor progresses when I experience stronger and frequent contractions until my cervix fully dilates at 10 cm. From my last internal examination, I was one cm dilated. To help soften my cervix, I was advised to take evening primrose three times a day until my delivery date.

I am very vocal about my breastfeeding journey. It wasn’t until our fourth son that I learned about the beauty of breastfeeding.

From the moment I gave birth to him, my OB Gynecologist and Midwife readily helped my son crawl towards my breasts. I later discovered it is called breast crawl. The newborn uses his instinct and reflexes to find his mom’s nipples. A few seconds after, he began to latch and nurse. Such a breakthrough solution to early breastfeeding problem.

I am just happy that the hospitals today encourage breastfeeding. Very unlike ten years ago when no health workers were even available to teach about colostrum, breast pumps, and even breastfeeding. Or so in my case.

BREASTS: Proud maker of the healthiest fast food.

I read this once, found it witty yet true. There are times my son just do not want to eat anything and all I could offer is my breast. He seems contented after his substantial dose of breastmilk, often taking a nap after I nursed him.

He is 22-months now and still breastfeeds from his mama. I am on my 39th weeks of pregnancy and I chose not to wean my son. Not yet. Because I feel and see he isn’t ready yet. And his mama is not giving up either. Again, my breasts produce the healthiest fast food for my son. I just can’t let go of the fact that I could offer him comfort and food at the same time and also enjoy his company. Breastfeeding has become our bonding, something just between the two of us.

It was early this year when Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” came in the movie houses. It is a live-action re-telling of an animated classic tale as old as time for the contemporary audience. Still, despite the modern approach, it stayed true to the original music though updated the scoring with several new songs.

Many loved the movie and I, for one, was dying to watch it. But, I simply cannot leave the house. I have a then one-year-old son to look after.

I love babywearing.

I learned of it about two years ago when we had our Little Man. That time, we have three growing boys. I just can’t fully function as a homemaker with my baby always in my arms. This momi then searched for the nicest and most durable carrier. I even bought a number until I found the one I have been looking for.

Now that our Fifth baby will soon join his family, I also plan to babywear him just like his kuya. I particularly love those moments when I carried our Little Man at kiss height. I could always cuddle him anytime I like and yes, kiss him repeatedly. He seemed to enjoy those many brief periods of time.

I am a homemaker. I decided to resign from my corporate work about two years ago and concentrate on looking after my children. We’ve got three boys and that time, I was pregnant with our fourth.

I admit that with my first three boys, I let the yaya be in charge of my children. That includes playtime, bedtime, and even mealtime. I was so busy with work and so was my husband. My three boys all grow up healthy and wise. But if only I could bring back time, I would have chosen to be with them since the very beginning.

Why?

Now that they are all claiming to be grown ups, they could be real picky and often, that stresses me a lot.

When my now 22-month-old son was only three months old, I introduced to him the use of a pacifier. My only reason that time was to see if a pacifier could help him stop “chewing” his hands. But then I failed. He preferred his hands than any kind of binky.
