How to Make Mom Friends?

Have you found yourself standing alone by the school gate waiting for your little darling while everyone else seems to know each other dearly? This is perhaps the dilemma of new moms on the block. Almost every parent wants to have her peer in school, and  Momi Berlin makes it easy for you to connect with other parents and have your mom’s friends.

Make the first move

Recall how you and your high school best friend first met. You were perhaps seated on the same row. You approach her with a smile, and as they say, the rest is history.

If you see a parent you think you could connect with, go near her. School projects or academic subjects are always an excellent topic to start a conversation. Surely you have plenty of something in common to talk about. For one, your children and your life as a mother are your shared bond.

Or you may engage with her child first. Compliment her offspring and make sure it is something sincere. Then gradually turn your gaze to the child’s mother and start with small talks. Discuss the new ID system or the recently concluded school fair. Admittedly, before the day ends, you have discussed pretty much everything. Make sure on your next school visit, look for your new friend, save her a seat, or bring some food to share.

Stay connected

You’ve made the first move to make friends. Get her contact details or at least exchange Facebook or Instagram names. Follow her and like some of her pictures and even make a few comments on her posts. Stay connected and make your presence felt.

Schedule meetups and playdates

As online communication is an excellent way to keep the connection, meetups will strengthen your blossoming friendship.

If you both pick up your students after school, perhaps you could meet up earlier for lunch. Or you may spend some coffee dates together while waiting for your students’ dismissal. You may also schedule a play date for your kids and even sleepover. As you establish your friendship, it is good that the children are also forming their bond.

In sleepovers, you don’t need to impress them with a seven-course meal. Just prepare something simple yet decent. It helps if you have an Instant Pot to help you prepare food. The Instant Pot combines seven kitchen appliances in one – Pressure Cooker, Slow Cooker, Rice Cooker, Steamer, Sauté, Yogurt Maker and Warmer. It prepares dishes up to 70% faster to support your busy lifestyle and still accommodate visitors minus the stress in food preparation. Remember, get your hands on the only cooking appliance you will need in the kitchen.

Be present

School activities are aplenty. If you have the time and resources, involve yourself in the preparation. Some teachers would love the parents to get involved in some of the preparations, especially if there are inter-level competitions. The opportunities are endless. You could also volunteer for class parties and field trips. It is during those gatherings that parents get to mingle and develop camaraderie. Take advantage of the chances.

In school gatherings, it helps, too, if you bring some food you prepared at home using your Instant Pot. And if you haven’t had one at home, you can now check out a unit as it will be officially launched in Shopee from July 18 to 24, 2020. You can get up to 1,000 off on their best selling items, free gifts, and nationwide free shipping! But first, you need to download the Shopee app for free from the App Store or Google Play.

Be yourself

You are most likely to find friends if you remain sincere and faithful to your character. Do not pretend to be loud and calm when you are indeed timid. Just be yourself. But be careful as well on how you deliver your wordings and act in front of an acquaintance. Speak and act with prudence.

How to Make Mom Friends

Go where the moms are. You can’t just stand at the back of the room during parties and pretend you are busy texting someone. Though it may take time to warm up to new people, making the first move to know them is worth the effort. Perhaps it may be the start of a beautiful friendship. Your only aim for a mom companion, and yet you gained a new buddy you could trust even your life with.

Be responsive as well. Surely other moms would like to reach out to you. Welcome them with a warm smile and into your life.
