Avon Teams up with Color Manila for Breast Cancer Awareness

Oct 14, 2019 | Likes, Links

It was still very clear in my head. The time between her breathing began to stretch out with many seconds. Her breathing pattern, too, became louder. It was still in the afternoon, and we were able to exchange a few thank yous and even reminisce happy memories. We were still waiting for her parents to arrive from Nueva Ecija, and she bravely hung on. And after everyone has come, she finally let go and die. It was past midnight. My cousin-in-law, whose body was overwhelmed with a disease that spread exceptionally, died of breast cancer.

the sad truth about breast cancer

A study conducted by the Philippine Council for Health Research and Development said that one in 13 Filipinos would develop breast cancer in her lifetime.  Sadly, my cousin-in-law got it. She died at age 45. Her sister died too of the same cause about a decade ago.

the best way to beat breast cancer

The Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society reported, too, that our country has the highest prevalence of breast cancer among 197 countries. And one best way to beat the disease is early detection. There is a need then to educate women on the importance of early detection.

run and walk for breast cancer

Avon Teams up with Color Manila for Breast Cancer Awareness

Very timely that Avon Philippines teams up with Color Manila for the Pink Light Night Run and Walk for Breast Cancer 2019. The purpose of the night run and walk is to raise awareness of the disease. it also aims to educate every woman that breast self-exam is one of the surest ways to detect it early.

no one left in the dark about breast cancer

I find this partnership so noble.  Avon Philippines has been a loyal supporter of this cause. Teaming up with Color Manila all the more highlights it belief that no woman should be left in the dark about breast cancer.

The Pink Light Night Run and Walk for Breast Cancer will happen on Saturday, October 19 at the Filinvest City Event Grounds. This event also marks the return of Avon’s signature run and walk, an annual initiative that garnered a large following through the years.

the Pink Light Night Run and Walk for Breast Cancer

Everyone can join the night run and walk by running in either 3K, 5K, or 10K distance. All participants will also receive a distinctive pink light headlamp to guide them through the night. And as they go through the course, they will also get caked in bright pink powder along the way.

Interested? Register for the run at www.colormanila.comwww.smtickets.com, and www.travelbook.ph.

I could still vividly remember how my cousin-in-law’s breathing patterns changed as her body began to shut down slowly. Perhaps, it’s one scene I would never forget. That is also one scene  I do not want to see anymore nor do not want to experience myself. And it would help a lot if I start with the breast self-exam. After all, early detection is a sure weapon until we have a cure.

Early detection is better than cure talaga. My sister-in-law just lost her fight with cancer few months ago. It happened so fast, hindi pa nga niya natapos yung scheduled treatment niya.

I’ve joined a Color Manila Run one time and it was really fun. A little chaotic, with the paint and stuff, but it was fun nonetheless, as I did it with my friends. I like that they’re doing this RUN for a great cause.

Are the colors going to be pink pastels? HAHAHA.

Haisst… Missing someone who choose to fight but her body didn’t make it…
Kaya kapag naririnig ko tong topic na to i Always tell how important it is to do preventive measure to avoid it.

This topic gets me every time mommy may kirot sa puso ko since kamamatay lang din ng tita ko which is also a mother to me she passed away because of cancer recently lang din. Hindi ko pa din tanggap pagkawala niya and i still cry even typing this. I think maganda ang ginagawa ni avon to spread awareness. We should always take care of ourselves unahin ang health before anything else.

I’m picturing this, and I think it’ll be freaking awesome. But on another note, I’ve lost so many family members to breast cancer that this topic kind of scares me to think about how close cancer has been to me. It’s a scary thing.

Nowadays, mahirap makampante na just because cancer doesn’t run on our bloodline, it’s okay na isawalang bahala nalang. Breast cancer can also develop over time due to some practices or habits that can trigger its onset. When I was in college, I had a friend who’s lola died of breast cancer and who’s mom is currently diagnosed with breast cancer and under going chemotherapy. During those times, I remember how it has affected her. She became too sensitive about cancer and dying jokes and sometimes she would also get offended. And so as her friends, we were also affected and most of the time we would tiptoe around the tulips just so we don’t add up to her anxiety. The saddest part of that is that she is certain of her odds of having breast cancer as well, and we couldn’t find the right words to say to comfort her at least. It’s tough because she told us that she didn’t want to be pitied but be supported instead.

We as friends struggled and how much more to the people diagnosed with breast cancer? The best thing I could do for now is to be aware and support breast cancer awareness campaigns and learn the ways of preventing it so I could share it to other people as well and be an advocate of breast cancer prevention.

We need to be also strong for our warriors. Love and support do make a difference (for our loved ones with big C) to go on with the treatment and battle.
Thank you, Avon for reaching and helping ️ sana marami pa kayong matulungan. Raising awareness is really a huge step in defeating this illness.

Actually hindi sya birong sakit at basta basta kaya kung may kakilala man tayong meron nito, kamaganak or kaibigan man, they need our support, love and prayers. We never know kung gaano natin sila napapasaya at nabibigyan ng pagasa na mabuhay.

Early detection is better than cure talaga. Share ko lanh din yung story ng first cousin ko, She is only 28yrs old and has 2kids. Kaya nakaka inspire na makakita ng isang brand kagaya ng Avon na nag susupport sa mga breast cancer patients and to you, Momi Berlin, sobrang thank you for sharing this.

We need each other’s support and love and syempre hold on lang sa faith natin sa Lord kasi sya lang ang gumagawa ng miracles.

Breast cancer is one of the realities and some of my friends are facing this battle. I know how painful and stressful it is and how it makes them frightened. That is why I made myself aware of this disease so that in my own little way I can relate and know how to appease, how to encourage, and motivate them.

Breast cancer is a serious battle and I do support this fight in every way I can.

Breast Cancer is one of the major and common disease nowadays. It is a high risk disease but if we are all knowledgeable about it i think we can survive it. Not all cancer patients are dying we all knew that many of it survived and still surviving. I think in this millenial age women should be more careful and aware of their bodies as to prevent this kind of disease. We should be more prayerful and be strong because battling Cancer is not just easy but with the help and support of our family and loved ones we can overcome it.
