The last REP show I’ve seen was The Beauty and the Beast with my two boys. It was almost the end of October 2017 then. As usual, my 12-year-old son enjoyed the play. My two-year-old toddler, on the other hand, just seated in awe as he watched the artists sing, dance, and act. It was his first time to see a live show and the lights and music truly stunned him. That day, I told myself I will bring them to another theater play when time permits. Plus if the right show comes.
A Comedy of Tenors
Now, as Repertory Philippines opens its curtains to welcome the 2018 season, it brings to us one entertaining comedy show that will again end in one happily ever after. I just love endings of such kind because plays are meant to be enjoyed.
I saw a snippet of the A Comedy of Tenors and I may say, it has the craziest cast of characters. This hilarious operatic farce will take audiences to a hotel suite in Paris where comical individuals get into rollicking misadventures. It will be available from January 26 to February 18 at the Onstage Theater in Greenbelt 1, Makati City.
A fitting sequel
A Comedy of Tenors is a sequel to the Tony Award-winning Lend me a Tenor of comedic genius Ken Ludwig. The play is set in 1930’s Paris. An opera producer attempts to put on the concert of the century. But he goes missing as the opening night draws near. His hot-blooded wife, their daughter and her lover, a frazzled assistant, a harassed producer and three egoistic tenors all cause chaos on catastrophic levels!
Will the show go on
The big question is, with flaring tempers, mistaken identities, secret romances, and all kinds of misadventures in one hotel suite, will the show go on?
Find out in REP’s A Comedy of Tenors directed by theater veteran Miguel Faustmann. The play stars Lorenz Martinez, Shiela Valderrama-Martinez, Noel Rayos, Jeremy Domingo, Issa Litton, Arman Ferrer, and Mica Pineda.
Tickets are available at REP (843.3570) or through Ticketworld (891.999).
