MOMI RECOMMENDS| Fucidin for wound infection

Infection can develop in any kind of wound. Infection occurs when bacteria enters the wound through an opening in one’s skin.  Though there are a number of precautions to prevent wound infection from developing, still when bacteria spreads, it may lead to a more serious disease.

This happened to my Firstborn when he was just about seven years old.  He would easily get hurt, be exposed to different types of wounds, and get an infection after.  I learned that it is not only prudent to wash the wound well with antibacterial soap and water.  Cleaning is simply not enough.  It is essential to apply a topical antibiotic at the first sign of wound infection.

What our Pedia recommends

Our Pedia recommended that we apply Fucidin® cream to the infected area three times a day.  I even remember asking my boy’s school adviser to assist my son in applying the cream with the use of cotton buds during lunch time.  His wound would clear after a week or two, if I remember it correctly.  And since then, we always stock up with Fucidin®.

What Kris Aquino recommends

MOMI RECOMMENDS| Fucidin for wound infection

I remember those instances when I saw Kris Aquino’s Fucidin commercial on television one day.   Very evident that the talented host goes full force against wound infection with Fucidin®.   And I may say I trust Aquino’s choices as she is a well-known celebrity mother who cares for her sons’ health and well-being.  Just like her, Fucidin®  is part of our wound care kit!

What Fucidin® does

Fucidin ® works by preventing bacteria from producing proteins that are essential for their growth.  Without these proteins, the bacteria cannot grow, reproduce and increase in number.  Fusidic acid does not directly kill the bacteria.  It only prevents the bacteria from spreading.   The remaining bacteria die in time. This clears up the infection.

Most dermatologists and physicians recommend Fucidin ® because it is fast-acting.  We have come to learn that it works on the infection two minutes upon application.  It deeply penetrates and reaches the skin’s deepest layer 30 minutes after application.

Fucidin® comes in two variants. Fucidin® cream is ideal for exposed parts of the body like the face and hands, while Fucidin® ointment is ideal for dry, scaly or cracked lesions.

What this momi recommends

Like Kris, we always have a stock of Fucidin® at home.  We do not like to take chances.  This topical antibiotic has seriously proven its worth to us.

It is very important that we are aware of what kind of topical medicine should be applied for the wounds especially for the kids which tend to be more sensitive. I use tetramycin for my wounds and burns and it works effectively fast. Thanks for recommending this Fucidin… Maybe i should include this in my med kit for emergency uses!

Fucidin’s gonna send me a sample and I’m excited to try it out. Well, I hope not on Nate, kasi wala syang sugat ngayon at ayaw din natin magkasugat mga junakis natin. But in case, di ba? Meron na agad ready-to-use. I have never tried this brand before. This will be my first.

Thanks for sharing about Fucidin! Is it available OTC? My 1.6-year-old just scratched his nose when he fell on the pavement while running, so I’m considering getting this. I just put a dollop of Indigo Baby’s Healing Gel on the wound, then place a Korean healing-type band-aid on it. (^_^’)

Is this available OTC, and how much? Thankfully my daughter is past the always-falls-down-and-wounds-herself phase, but you never know when a freak accident would occur and you might need it. I think any household that has kid/s would benefit from having this on hand, because no one wants any wound infections. Thank you so much for sharing! ^_^

Ok, the bacteria do not spread further. It is nice to know how this bacteriacide works. The good thing to know is that it begins working within 2 minutes of its application. This kind of medicines are handy for all the mommies because working in kitchens and getting exposed to flames and other dangerous stuff is downright risky.

Who wants germs to spread? Right? I haven’t tried Fucidin yet but this has something benefits that other parents may want to consider. If only there as Fucidin when I was younger. Back then, I was a clumsy kid. Whenever I would play outside, I’d return home with a wound and my aunts would reprimand me everytime. This is really helpful for parents. 🙂

Being a parent means knowing the small secrets that will surely make your minor issues disappear in not time. And when it comes to health, it is useful to always know what to use in case you are in pain or hurt. Fucidin seems as an excellent solution it seems.

I really agree that cleaning is not just enough to get rid of infection. I really admire you for always being a super mother with your kids. You always get to know what’s best for them in all ways. My mother was not like that with us before. Anyway, I haven’t heard about this kind of cream yet and I’ll surely bear this in mind for a future reference. I like how you have provided all the necessary information that is enough for us to check it out as well especially, for the mothers out there.

Sounds like a good way to treat wounds! I am particularly impressed because you mentioned that it’s fast-acting. It’s great that you are looking for various ways to take care of your children. Now I know what ointment to recommend when someone asks me for a good infection-fighting treatment.
