MOMI LAUGHS/ PMs from Tots

Oct 4, 2016 | Love, Only Berlin

Note:  PMs from tots is a compilation of chat message exchanges between this momi and her boys.  She used to work as a freelance writer before until a client got her full time.  With no house help to look after the boys then, they survived those years communicating through Yahoo Messenger and FB Chat.

PMs from tots on just in case

June 18, 2012

It’s school time!  Our kind boss adjusted my work schedule so I may attend to my kids after their classes.  Since my boys will be home by 3pm, they only have to wait for two hours till I arrive home and prepare their dinner.  While waiting for me, they should answer all homework and use the time to review for exams.

Today is different, though.  The school suspended their classes because of typhoon Butchoy.  And the kids are at home playing.  My Facebook page is open to communicate with the boys since we do not have a telephone at home.  A question popped from my chat box.  It came from the second son –

“Mama, ano gagawin ko kung nag-pupu si bunso?” (What will I do if younger brother pooped?)

I panicked.  Then immediately told him to wash Bunso and he should wash his hands too.

Then I got another message from Second son.  I got confirmation that Bunso didn’t go to the comfort room and second son just asked the question JUST IN CASE.

PMs from Tots on online game

August 6, 2012

Since we do not have a telephone at home, the only way to communicate with the boys is through chatting online.

Startled to see husband online.  They have strict office policy about opening social networks like Facebook during office hours.

I messaged him.

It was bunso.

And I asked him if he’s playing.

He said yes.

And he said he was enjoying.  How can I tell him to stop when he just said, “I am enjoying.”

PMs from tots on emoticons

Chat time!

There are a number of emoticons for Yahoo Messenger users showing a person’s mood or facial expression in the form of icons.  And the boys are indeed using them to the max.  Second son’s recent messages –

PMs from tots on you’re late, mama

December 19, 2012

I went out of the office to have a lunch date with a client.  I returned to the office at 2:30pm.

And I got this message from my son –

late-ka-na-mama

I could feel my son’s harsh scolding.  I failed to answer his chat message on time.

My boys would also let mama check their assignments via FB messenger.

I truly enjoy the exchange of message between you, your husband and your kids. You guys are just adorable. How I wish to have such harmonious relationship with my family. We’ve never had that kind of relationship.

I really appreciate the technology nowadays because when I was young the only thing that we can communicate with my mom was thru snail mail. Long distance calls are so expensive. But now, whenever my husband is away, we can use Viber, Facetime and FB messenger. Ang demanding ni son, bawal ma-late si mommy magreply. hehehe!

Oooh, I missed reading stories about your family! I remember getting similar messages from my pamangkins when they were younger. It always end with “Auntie what time are you going home?”. I’m excited to experience the same with Santi. Few years to go! 🙂

isnt technology wonderful! Kids embrace this so fast especially instant messaging. I have some of the most hilarious texts from my boys (now 21 and 24). Sometimes I don’t understand a word they are saying though!

This is how we make digital natives. It’s great that they know how to use technology early as now. They’ll be more intuitive with other techs in the future. Plus, more laughs!

Modern life is all about digital! Sometimes I wonder how did we live 20 years ago? And 100 years ago? How did we manage to travel?

Aw, this made my heart melt. I mean, those were simple conversations via chat but I can see how sweet your sons are and how you value communication so much. <3 Also goes to show how convenient technology is right now that even kids can adapt well to them at an early age! 😀

This is absolutely adorable and warmed my heart 🙂 such cute kids I can see you’re a proud mama. You’ll look back in time and you’ll still smile reading these I am sure of it. Also it’s so nice that they let you go home earlier so you can have dinner with your kids.
