MOMI MUSINGS/ isang libo’t isang dasal o higit pa

Mar 9, 2016 | Only Berlin

* Second son will be graduating from grade school, hopefully with honors, this March 20, 2016.  I am somehow sad that he won’t be bringing home the Valedictorian medal as his class ranking tremendously dropped from first to fourth honors.  Anyway, grades do not measure intelligence, as what we often hear.  More important, though,  are the friendship earned, values learned, and wisdom developed.

What makes a child gifted and talented may not always be good grades in school but a different way of looking at the world and learning.

    What a stiff competition!

I was just wondering, why only 15? UPIS’ counterpart in Los Banos, UPRHS, accepts 125 students. And I thought that the way to UPIS is the UPKAT (entrance test for kinder)?

We got a letter and stated there that they are just getting 15. The school’s priority are their elementary students who passed the UPKAT years ago.

Oh maybe they’re filling up slots of the UPKAT passers who eventually transferred.

I agree with you Berlin. When my son will go to school, I will not force or pressure him to be on top. Though being on top will make him competitive and it’s an honor right? But it’s more important that they are learning while having fun. Congratulations for having smart boys.

Thank you, Lady. I also pray that they value education as much as we do. It’s the only gift we could truly give them.

Woah, only 15! I wonder why! Grabe ang tight ng competition. I’m hoping your son gets into the coveted school!

15 only because the school priorities its graduates from elementary and 15 daw ang only slot for new students. Not included pa dun though ang new students under varsity who have higher chances of entering the school.

I agree that high grades are not the sole measurement of intelligence. What’s important is what you will become when you step in the real world. Most people flunk in life because of lack of values.

I agree. We still give importance to values more than grades. 🙂

Wow, super hirap pala makapasok sa UPIS. Anyway, I’m sure you’re still happy for your son even if he didn’t graduate as the Valedictorian. Fourth honors is still a great achievement. 🙂 Congrats!

Yup, may kahirapan talaga pumasok sa UPIS. We saw the results already and he wasnt included. Nway, we found a school na naman for him and we hope he will enjoy there and feel he belongs. And by the way, thank you.
