It’s summer. And I play teacher to my three boys. We have a Summer Enrichment Activity (SEA) at the small house. It is anything about personality development to writing composition and mathematics among others.
For today’s lesson, I ask the boys to compose an essay about their preferred gender for our baby. Very timely too that I just had my congenital anomaly scan.
Just like this mother, second son and big bunso wish for a baby girl. Second son assumes that women in general move faster than the male species especially in doing household chores, thus would want a girl. Perhaps, with another lady in the family, he hopes he will no longer do household chores. He must have really dislike cleaning the house. But what I appreciate the most is the fact that he cares for me. He knows very well that I would want a daughter this time and he does not want his mother to be disappointed, thus wishes for a sister.
Bunso likewise echoes his kuya’s wanting to have a baby sister. His reason? “For a change.”
Anyway, the ultrasound revealed that we will be having another man in the house. And first born is happy to hear the news. He, after all, wishes for a baby boy. He reasons out that girls often whine and would always use the word “Please” to get their demands. I do not know if he sees that in me.
Girl or boy though, this mother thanks the Lord because the latest member of our family appears normal as per the congenital anomaly scan report.
Again, thank you, Lord.
