Finally, I met Pnoy. He is slimmer and taller in person. He smiles a lot, too. And I find his smile genuine.
I didn’t vote for him last 2010 election. Now that I have met him and spent forty minutes with him last night changed things. I somehow like his sincere gesture. He apologized for making us wait for two hours and thirty minutes. His reasons were valid though. There was a 2pm bomb blast destroying a bus plying north bound. The explosion ripped through the bus just as it was reaching Buendia. News reported four died and 14 hurt from the incident.
Pnoy was guest of honor at the Philippine Business for Social Progress (PBSP) gala night. The company I am affiliated with is a new member and we attended the event to receive a plaque acknowledging us as a new member.
There we met and shook hands with Manny V. Pangilinan, current chairman of the board. He is smaller than I thought but just like Pnoy, he exuded such calm and positive energy.
The affair took place at the Grand Ballroom of Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati city. Government officials, top executives from top corporations and famous individuals were a plenty. mMany glittered in their cocktail dress while others looked too plain and simple. Many have their own stories to boast. Others were just there to listen to such long stories. But everyone kept their silence when Pnoy arrived and the program started.
Again, I enjoyed looking at our president while standing in front of us. He spoke hurriedly and excused himself once to drink water from his glass.
He has a sense of humor. He talks sensibly. And I appreciated him- that night.
Some souvenir books and the plaque we got from the event.
