Sing like no one is listening. Love like you’ve never been hurt. Dance like nobody’s watching, and live like it’s heaven on earth.
Though some would find live theater performances to be obsolete, I still love to watch actors play on stage. Perhaps because I grew up watching them.
When I was in high school, we would often go to The Tanghalang Francisco Balagtas. Formerly known as the Folk Arts Theater, this theater is within the Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex in Manila. I have seen various Shakespeare’s plays and fell in love with the story of the Merchant of Venice. Of all the Filipino plays, my favorite will always be Noli Me Tangere. And the most hilarious would always be The Vagina Monologues.
My love for the theater remains. Though seldom do I watch plays, I always make it a point to find time if given the chance. Even if millennials and others would say live theater performances are far behind the technological capabilities of a film, I would still prefer the former.
I am just so impressed on how actors would sing like no one is listening and dance like nobody’s watching. Truly, I could feel heaven on my seat.
