Head to toe care for my baby

[tweetshareinline tweet=”A new life is in front of me.  Thank you, Lord.” username=”IfZgcz8ZKo14VSCu3y8ejhrBGaCG*R!N:1:0″]

That was what I uttered when my doctor put my baby on my chest.  My son crawled and latched onto my breast.  Then I said to myself, I will take care of him, perhaps more than the way I did to my fourth.  The happiness of bringing a life into this world cannot be described in words.  It can, however, be shown through actions.  And I am committed to taking care of my fifth from head to toe, from that day till I am able.

Hold my baby with love

My Sumosam was sent to our room after a few hours of giving birth to him.  Very unlike my first three boys, when I went to my hospital room, while my baby was cared for in a nursery.  I could only see my newborn when I need to feed him.

Now, hospitals believe in the benefits of early and frequent skin-to-skin contact on breastfeeding.  It also has such great effect on early attachment.

When I first held my son to breastfeed him, I slid my hands under my boy’s neck while my fingers support his head.   Then, I slid my other hand under his bottom from between his two legs.

[tweetshareinline tweet=”I believe holding a baby isn’t something one learns to do.  It is innate.” username=”IfZgcz8ZKo14VSCu3y8ejhrBGaCG*R!N:1:0″] A mother learns how to do it as she touches her baby.  And as she frequently holds her infant near her bosom, the more her affection develops.

Latch my baby to sleep

Breastfeeding my SumoSam is one of the best gifts I could give him.  More than the nutrition and other health benefits, it is again how I show my commitment to care for him.

To assure him of my continuous milk supply, we unlilatch at night.  Through unlilatch, his mouth and tongue massage the milk out of my milk glands.  I have read from many health magazines that breastfeeding is about supply and demand.  My child needs to frequently latch on me to assure abundant milk.

Lullaby my baby to sleep

I sleep beside my newborn.  I am in between him and my toddler.  That way, being beside them as they sleep makes it easy for me to attend to their needs.

As I put my babies to sleep, I always sing to them.  And even if I sing off-key, it seems it doesn’t matter to my children.  Singing comforts them just the same way it comforts me.  My lullabies soothe my babies, creating a calm night-time ambiance.

Even when outside and I know it’s nap time already, I still sing to my child. I also gently massage his forehead and back and in no time, he is sound asleep.  He can sleep for hours as I wear him.  He wouldn’t mind if I walk or talk a few lines.

Bathe my baby from head to toe

Next to breastfeeding my baby, bathing him gives me so much joy.  I remember I was ecstatic when on the ninth day, his umbilical cord stump fell off.  That day, I knew we will enjoy our bath time.

Newborns don’t get dirty that much.    Thus I use my palm in massaging his soft skin.  As for the baby wash, we are lucky to have received a few samples of baby products for the boys to try.  We took note of the brands that dry out baby’s skin and those that hurt his eyes.  We have tried a lot of brands until we settled for a few and made a decision what to opt to.

Of all the brands we’ve tried, our SumoSam is most comfortable with the Baby Dove Sensitive Moisture Hair to Toe Baby Wash

As bath time is all about giggles, not tears, it helps that our favorite baby wash gives the gentle and moisturizing care for my little one.  Baby Dove not only protects my darling’s skin, it replenishes the essential moisture lost during bath time.  This makes my son’s skin so irresistibly soft, smooth, and clean.   It likewise leaves a scent that would make me kiss him repeatedly until I realized I’ve spent hours tickling, kissing and playing with my child.

It is reassuring to know, too, that Unilever, the maker of Baby Dove, considers product safety as its top priority. The company ensures that its products – Baby Dove included – comply with applicable laws. Likewise, Unilever sets its standards higher than what the law requires. This is because, again, Unilever prioritizes product safety. The brand’s home and personal care products are used every day by millions of people around the globe. Individuals and families trust the brand in providing products that are safe for them, their loved ones, and the environment. And to show the company’s appreciation to the trust and confidence of people, Unilever brings the product with the highest standard, even exceeding its own regulation.

Happy to share that for busy moms like us, we can easily purchase Baby Dove products online. You can visit this link for easy reference.

Head to toe care for my baby

I love my SumoSam very much just like how I love my four other boys.  They are my life.  They are my now and most probably, my future.  I will give them my love.  And I am committed to taking care of my Sumosam and his four brothers from head to toe, from the day I gave birth to them until I am able.

Surely they are available in your place. They are nice for sensitive skin. You may want to try them out. But first, hope you find them in your favorite supermarket.

so true! I mean, holding your baby comes out naturally. When I had my baby, I was a bit scared and told myself I haven’t carried a newborn before. But the moment I held him, it was just so natural and beautiful. And I agree taking care of our kids is something you put a little extra effort but its a worthwhile effort. Thanks for sharing.

I adore you greatly mommy, especially with how you rear your children. I also exclusively breastfeed my son and latch him to sleep. We also started cosleeping started from the time he was born. Nights were also turned into reading and lullaby moments. And bathing is our bonding moment too since he loves water.

I wish I experienced this when I gave birth to my little man. Where I gave birth, they do not give mums and babies skin-skin contact at birth and instead of promoting breastfeeding they would require mums to bring formula along with their essentials when they check in at the hospital. I guess it was the reason why I failed to breastfeed my son and only got to feed him a little of my breastmilk. It would’ve been a beautiful bonding experience for me and my son if we were able to breastfeed. I have such high respect for mums who do because I am aware of the hard work and the sacrifice breastfeeding entails. If I will be fortunate to have another child, I will make sure to breastfeed her.

I could imagine you will surely enjoy breastfeeding your child should you be given the chance. For my first three boys, I wasnt able to breastfeed them directly, too, as during those times, breastfeeding and skin to skin contact werent promoted widely.
