MOMI SHARES| Power dressing: I am who I wear

What’s the secret to being confident?

[tweetshareinline tweet=”We are what we wear.” username=”SPk3(ad*e(5d4@pEwem@tnlADFb9ZZc8:1:1″] This is what I often hear from my mom who greatly influenced my love for dressing up.Β  Our clothes- from fab gown to plain shirt – have a significant effect on our confidence and at the same time affect people’s impressions of us.

Power dressing and my corporate suit

I love fashion and the glamour that comes with it.Β  I like to dress up for work and even when we do the grocery.Β  Perhaps I have seen how my mom gives great importance to dressing up.Β  I would want to convey to the world that I am just like my mother – a hardworking, passionate, and dynamic person.

This mother likes her collared blouse and slacks well-ironed.Β  I love it when my dress is made from light fabric and with dainty prints on them.Β  And I love it most when I feel the softness of the fabric and even smell the fabric conditioner on my sleeves.Β  Β  For 15 years, I woke up, dressed up, and attended meetings and conferences almost every day.

Until I left work to attend to a more important duty I should have faced a long time ago.

I have been wanting to look after my three boys and be a full-time mom.Β  But I just couldn’t leave my post as an Accounts Manager in a Public Relations firm.Β  Then, one day, I had missed abortion.Β  After that, I got pregnant again.

Heaven and earth must have made ways for me to finally leave the corporate world and concentrate my efforts on being a stay-at-home mom.Β  “You should be pregnant to stay home for good,” must have what the universe told me.Β  And so I bid my last farewell, packed my stuff, and left the workstation I almost considered my second home. I also accepted the fact I will no longer wear my dresses and stiletto heels.Β  Or I may still opt to use them when I bring the boys to school and attend school activities. After all, I will only change workstation, not my life and definitely not my love for fashion and the glamour that comes with it.

Power dressing and my babyΒ carrier

MOMI SHARES| Power dressing: I am who I wear

Our fourth boy came.Β  After two years, God gifted us with another boy.Β  Our two children bring so many changes and joy into our life.Β  And they can be so demanding, too.

Or perhaps there is a natural need for babies to be carried.Β  They enjoy the closeness and warmth of their parents, and that familiar scent and even movement.Β  Whenever I carry my toddler and newborn,Β  I could feelΒ their heart pounding against my chest.Β  SurelyΒ they must feel mine, too.

As I manage the house and look after our three other boys, I opted to babywear our youngest.Β  It allows me to be more flexible and frees my hands so I could move with much ease.Β  I could run errands, write a few articles, and even play withΒ our toddler.Β  I must say, I am at my happiest whenever I wear my baby.

Along with the changeΒ in lifestyle is the change of my clothing preference, too.Β  I gave upΒ my corporate suit and stiletto shoes and now wear nursing dresses, flat shoes, and my baby carrier.

My babyΒ carrier has become my statement.Β  It has become my new power outfit.Β  Despite the change in clothing, though, I still feel confident in myself.Β  I may say the people around us look highly of us as well.Β  Perhaps because, again, the happiness I feel every time I wear my baby is so obvious people see that as I move and walk around.

Power dressing and my FashionCare

For years now, we depend on our ever reliable Electrolux washer to care for our clothes and evenΒ the baby carrier I use. Yes, I have been told to only handwash carriers but for two years now, we use our washing machine to clean our baby carrier.Β  Its shape, color, and texture, though, remain the same.Β  Thank goodness.

Recently, when we went out to look for a television set (because our little two-year-old loves to tap our tv scene and it seemsΒ it will be saying goodbye anytime soon), I saw the latest stocks of washing machineΒ from Electrolux.Β  The new Electrolux washers come with innovationsΒ designed to fit perfectly intoΒ my lifestyle or of any modern mom.Β  Β All come with innovation that prevents clothes from fading, shrinking, and even misshaping.Β  All haveΒ advanced features, too, that definitely make washing easier and even sophisticated.

To educate consumers on how to care for their clothes, Electrolux even got on-board a FashionCare Council with FashionCare ambassador Rajo Laurel as the lead.

It's official! Rajo Laurel is the first-ever Electrolux FashionCare Ambassador! Catch a glimpse inside his amazing studio. #RajoxElectrolux

UltraMix™ technology

For the features, the latest Electrolux washers are equipped with the UltraMix™ technology.Β Β ThisΒ innovation promises an exceptional deep clean as the clothes retainΒ their vibrant color.

Vapour Refresh program

Another wowΒ innovation isΒ theΒ Vapour Refresh program which refreshes the clothes, leaving them smelling fresh and looking like new.Β  Yes, you will get wrinkle-free clothes with less ironing hassle!Β  Honestly, this is one of the best featuresΒ that I love about Electrolux washers.Β  With three schoolboys, a toddler and a baby, plus two parents, ironing can be real taxing.

ElectroluxΒ Load Sensor™

With our tried and tested washing machine, IΒ often abuse it and load too much just to finish my washing as soon as possible.Β  I know there is a certain limit to the number of clothes I should put inside but then sometimes, I do not follow it.Β  Now, with ElectroluxΒ Load Sensor™, the machine will automatically sense the loadΒ weight.Β  ItΒ could even determine the optimal washing time, water, and detergent while guaranteeing maximum energy efficiency.Β  And I swear as the sales attendant explains everything to this mom, I could only say wow and nod my head.

Electrolux Vapour Care

Another great innovation I am so impressed with is the Electrolux Vapour Care.Β It reducesΒ allergens by up to 99.9%,Β  surely taking care ofΒ the family’s well-being.

As we all know, allergens can interrupt a restful sleep and may even leave us feeling groggy the next day.Β  They can even present danger to those who have asthma like my two boys.

All along, I thought only air purifiers are perfectly designed to help cleanse the air.Β  Now, it amazes me to know thatΒ such washing machine can combat those allergens.Β  This is indeed perfect in our household given that we have two boys with asthma.Β  Such nice technology as well to promote the total well being of our toddler and baby.

Power dressing and my choice

This mother has come to realize that we are not only what we wear.Β  [tweetshareinline tweet=”We become what we wear. ” username=”SPk3(ad*e(5d4@pEwem@tnlADFb9ZZc8:1:1″] And I love and fall in love whenever I wear my baby.Β  It defines my stand and my priorities.Β  I love it best when our SumoSam (our youngest) snoozes in his baby carrier.Β  Β  And I feel the most confident whenever I glide and walk with my baby carrier and my Little Man (our fourth) in it.

[tweetshareinline tweet=”Babywearing my boys gives me the confidence to face the world.” username=”SPk3(ad*e(5d4@pEwem@tnlADFb9ZZc8:1:1″] Because I am one proud mom and I am confident on what I have become. All the more that ElectroluxΒ washers are there to help me face the world confidently.Β  Β As my baby is all snuggled up close to me, I feel the softness, smell the fragrance, and see the vibrant color of our baby carrier – my best dress so far.Β  I feel empowered and confident because I know with my power dress, I look stunningly beautiful.Β  And the worldΒ sees a hardworking, passionate, and dynamic person in me.

First off, we both have all boys and they’re a handful!

Although I’ve never entered the corporate world, I agree, we are what we wear! And it’s so nice to know that finally we can get rid of hand washing our delicate fabrics including our sons’ clothes because Electrolux guarantees care and protection of color, texture and is allergen-free! Making new clothes newer for longer!

Babywearing is the best! I couldn’t imagine not having worn my second and third kids. Carriers are life savers. Nilabhan mo sa washing machine?? I wouldn’t even dare! LOL! But it works for you and Electrolux is a trusted brand. Astig si Electrolux.

P.S. now as a SAHM, I miss wearing heels sometimes. Haha!

Another “wow” article for me, Momi Berlin. Electrolux never fails to update and innovate to cater to every household and person’s needs. By the way, you look stunning as always. Your choice of giving up the corporate world and wearing corporate attire to serve your family especially your kids measure your true power and that is selflessness and mindfulness out of love.

I have no fashion sense, and I could wear the plain t-shirts, shorts, sandals, and go to malls. But that is not to say I disagree with power dressing. Regardless of reasons, People do as they please much like you do what pleases you.

Already, taking care of several kids can take a toll. Sometimes, it is the company of people that make life easier. Or, it could be those few times you have your me-time. It could also be dressing up, as well.

At any rate, more power to you, momi!

Baby carrier is such a convenient product that all moms really need. I love the way mom can feel every heartbeat of her child and the child can feel the closeness and warmth from his mother. Thanks for your sharing.

Weeee! Good luck! I will not forget this brand ‘coz I always encounter this at work on my first call center job. Many US customers buy Electrolux brand appliances. Possibly because “subok na talaga”.

Electrolux is already a household brand. I was checking their washing machine when I was looking for one, hindi lang kaya ng budget ko. So I bought a different one, pero wish ko magkafront load washing machine.

It’s also my dream to have a front load washer. they say the clothes are safer when using a front load washing machine. And the more it would be effective if from a trusted name like Electrolux.

Smart appliances are the best. They make our chores easy and efficient, allowing busy moms extra time to have fun with the kiddos.

Super agree on this. Appliances should help us and not the other way around.

I agree we are what we wear. Moreover, the way we feel about how we look equals our level of confidence. They say fashion says to the world who we are without having to talk. In a way, it’s true. It’s great that babywearing shows to the world that you love having your son close to you. And I love your Lillebaby Tokidoki carrier! It just adds some fun into whatever you’re wearing!

The Tokidoki design is fun and cute thus got it. I always like to be happy and be reminded of happy thoughts thus perhaps opted for the Tokidoki design.

I was so glad to have finally met you. I must I admit I admire you. I too loves power dressing. I was introduced to the corporate world when I was still young because my dad brought me to his office and somehow he influenced me to have a successful office career. Unlike you who willingly embraced motherhood and gave power dressing a different meaning, I was a bit reluctant turning my back from the corporate and be a full-time housewife. Having a child might have made a difference. Was not blessed though. I do love how you dress up. I’m not into wearing long dress (because I really feel like I don’t look good) and I really like how you effortlessly do it!

When it comes to doing laundry, I’m the lazy (stubborn) kind. I put everything in the washer even if the label says hand wash only hahaha I’m using a regular twin tub right now but I’m really saving up for a front load. It’s my dream eh.

    Reply
    • momiberlin

Hahahha. Same here. I often just put everything in the washer and let the washer process everything. It’s my 11 year old boy who told me I should take care of our washing machine because if it breaks, we cant afford to buy a new one. Hahaha.

And thank you for the nice words.

Ah yes another fellow power dressing momma! Agree with everything in you post. Kudos to you for constantly babywearing your children. I had a hard time because both my daughter and I are sweaty. We get really sweaty even in airconditioned places that’s why I had to stop baby wearing. Anyhow, good luck to us! πŸ™‚

That’s the downside perhaps of babywearing. Though there are some carriers which are just right for our weather here. Perhaps you would want to explore on those options. And yes, good luck to us. πŸ™‚

This gave me pause… I often shop at thrift stores! I also did baby wearing but in a time when it wasn’t openly accepted. I often got bad looks because of the whole “sakang” superstition thing. Today it’s widely accepted and even encouraged which is great!

Somehow, baby wearing doesn’t work well in our set up here in Saudi Arabia where women wear abaya(black robe) and ride car most of tge time. We don’t often walk, unfortunately. But, I was thinking that if I were in an open country, I’d surelywear my baby. πŸ™‚
