PERSONAL NARRATIVES, MOMMY TIPS, AND THRILLING DISCOVERIES TO MAKE DAILY LIFE THE HAPPIEST

MOMI GROWLS/ proud and loud UST

September 6, 2016 · 21 Comments

This momi growls proud and loud.

I am a proud AB Journalism degree holder. And I graduated from the University of Santo Tomas (UST).   It saddens me, though, to learn that UST will not offer Journalism for this  academic year.  Reports take the blame to the low number of qualified applicants – an effect of the K to 12 program.

Curiosity leads me to read further.  Only six students  qualified to take Journalism.  This number was way below the required quantity.  A possible class needs at  least 40 enrollees.  Another course cancelled was Legal Management.  It only had 11 qualified enrollees.

Anyway, I have a story to tell.

When I was in college, I never had any campus shirt.  My allowance then was just enough for my daily food and transportation.  I never had any club as well that would require me to wear one.   There was a time I watched the UAAP at the Cuneta Astrodome.  Everyone was in yellow with a growling tiger print in front. I was wearing a plain yellow top.  After the game, I hoped for my own campus shirt.

I wouldn’t say half of my time was spent wishing for a college shirt.  I forgot everything about it until last week.  When I got a package from Coolegit Clothing.  They gave me my first UST campus shirt!

My first ever UST campus shirt growls proud and loud.

And the feeling was surreal.

“I am too old for this,” I told myself.   Yet I still wore it when husband and I went for a walk with the boys.  And I felt proud.

I realized wearing a college shirt shows you are a part of a group.  It is an identity —  your badge of pride.   I walked that day with pride.

It is for this same reason Coolegit Clothing came to being.  They would want to provide campus shirts of exceptional quality that represent the school.  And the wearer would feel proud.  And I felt proud that day.  And believe me.  As I do not want others to think ill about my university, I was so mindful of my actions that day.  Wearing your school’s identity somehow dictates a stricter atmosphere that positively encourages you to be prim and proper.

proud and loud

I will meet a new friend tomorrow.  And I plan to wear my UST shirt.  Wearing one lessens the getting-to-know-you questions.  And if we came from the same alma mater, I know we will immediately feel comfortable.

So, do you want your own college shirt?  Coolegit Clothing is one of the many I know that has an expansive collection of creatively designed clothes.  Aside from campus shirts, Coolegit Clothing also offers jacket, polo shirt, bags, and ID lace among others.     I attest to the quality of the materials used and the uniqueness of the design.

Order yours now.

That must have been special. At some point while I was reading, I had a passing though of having mine too, but I never graduated and besides, it was so long ago. I am not even mentioning the school because I stayed too short to have any semblance of loyalty.

UST on the other hand, has history and tradition. So, momi, go growl!

I love how this was a dream come true for your college self! My mom and my boyfriend both came from UST. And I’ve always loved how cheap the food there is. Bananarama ftw

That is so good. Dreams turn into reality at some point. I am still shocked at the fact that sp many students were not able to get into journalism. Journalism is Lovely. Enjoy the proud moment

I have a ton of college shirts! Bought them for the memories hehe. Cause I know that when the years go by I’ll be able to remember the good college times when I look at my college shirts hehe. I always wanted to take journalism too!

I only had a few college shirts and eventually gave them away because it couldn’t fit me anymore. HAHA! But, somehow there was a boost in the confidence when you wear a school/college shirt. Makes you proud of your alma mater. I come from the green side and I just wish all the best for our schools! Animo! Haha!

That UST T-shirt looks awesome. Do you also have one for DLSU Green Archers? LOL. But anyway, I totally agree with you. Having a school shirt makes you feel proud and want to wear it when you go outside. I had one when I was in college and I bought a jacket too. I loved them. If I see a great design, I might buy one again. 😛

The design of the shirt is Super nice, your story reminds me of my college days that I also had nothing much, sometimes I even go without food till the next allowance comes in

I absolutely agree that wearing a college shirt is a form of identity. This is the reason why I still keep my college shirts up to now. I, however, usually wear when I’m at home or when I have to run a quick errand at the mall, but it’s also good to have more university shirts in case we need to watch the UAAP or there’s a school event. Anyway, you’ve mentioned that Coolegit Clothing offers quality school shirts. I checked it and, sadly, they don’t have my school on.

Yey! You have your first ever college shirt na. Though it took a long time for you to have one, I can see in your smile how proud and happy you are with the shirt you are wearing. Anyway, I feel saddened about the news that AB Journalism would no longer be offered in UST this year. It was my dream course actually. And my dream school was UST. But then, oh well. Because I’m the eldest child, I had to sacrifice and life goes on eventually hehehe

UST is a very good school. Thomasians are very fun and friendly. I was really sad when it’s time for me to leave the school. I miss the culture where Thomasians can balance having fun and extra curricular activities while studying hard for their exams.

Sad to hear that UST doesn’t offer this year Journalism and Legal Management. I wonder what’s the real reason behind.

Anyhow, you look good in your shirt, and it really shows how proud you are wearing it. We have the same experience when I was in my college days, my money was for transpo and food alone and couldn’t afford any extra thing to splurge. I bet how surreal it feels when you have that.. awesome!

I have a couple old shirts that I just cannot get rid of, I love them… makes me a little proud I guess : )
I know how you feel about a degree no longer being in the school system, happened to me degree as well! it’s a little saddening that not enough people qualified, weren’t interested, or whatever reason was behind it!

The shirt looks cool. I have a UST Jacket that I bought when I was on my 2nd sem in UST and having one has this weird feeling that I belong to the university no matter what.
