MOMI SMILES/ The uncovered books

Aug 31, 2016 | Love, Only Berlin

As usual, I am at home with my one-year-old.  Supposedly, we were to attend an event in Makati today but decided to just stay at home.  I did not receive confirmation from the company if I could babywear my son.   Now that the young man is sleeping, I have a few hours to sort out my knickknack box.  From my cleaning, I chance upon some unpublished writings.  Some new blog entries, I told myself.  Also a way to document everything as there were many from the past that I cannot remember anymore.

I wrote this last May 13, 2010.  My Big Bunso was four years old then;  today, he is 10 years old.

We came home from the boys’ school with their new books. Excited to have the books covered, I hurriedly went to a nearby office supplies store to buy a roll of plastic cover.  I instructed my four-year-old son to close the door and never entertain any guests.

Few minutes later,   as I was about to knock, our neighbor approached me and handed a new set of grade one school books.  She mentioned that a school personnel came by but my son did not open the door.  The school staff relayed to our neighbor that the wrong set of books were handed to us, thus she ran to give us the right one.

I was happy that day.  My son took my instructions seriously.  We played catch the ball and the books were left uncovered for days.

This post made me giggle. I just love unboxing old stuff. I have plenty of them under my bed in PH, and I was very thankful that my mom saved them from the ukay-ukay she did with my old clothes 3 years ago. haha I also keep a journal. hey, you gave me an idea. Perhaps there are blogworthy entries there. 😀 Good job with your son! Most youngsters find it hard to listen to their parents these days.

Buti naman no merong momi na nagturo na huwag magbubukas ng door. Naalala mo pa ang kwento niya kung anong na feel niya nung me kumatok and hindi niya pinagbuksan? I bet you kiddo was so proud that day too.

What an obedient child! I wonder what my son would do if he were in that situation. Sabagay, when they’re young, talagang masunurin pa sila. 😀

Awwwww! This is so heartwarming. I believe you’re doing the right thing in disciplining your son and teaching him how to follow and obey rules. I do hope a lot of parents would also be able to do the same thing to their children. I also hope your son continues to grow up with an attitude like this!

What an obedient son! He deserves to have a play time with Momi Berlin. Anyway, I was just curious how come the school personnel got through but your neighbor got through. Perhaps your neighbor relayed the information via phone or chat? So you did not end up covering the wrong set of books, right?

We stayed in a small community before where most people know each other. The school was just near our place. The school supplies shop was near as well. We share the same gate with the neighbor. The school personnel kept on knocking and my little man told the school staff to just return later. It was the kind neighbor, who was at that time, outside, who got the books. She handed to me the books when she saw me entering the house. Ihihi. Haba

You’re certainly doing something right:) I bet it’s rewarding and heart warming to see your son obeying your rules. It’s important that they have a good sense of what is right and wrong, what they should and should not do. I believe that once they understand the importance, then it’s easier for them to follow the rules as well.

Hahaha I can so relate to doing the errands while cuddling our kids… it’s a battle you don’t know should you fight but yeah, we always end up doing errands late since kids are much important than above else!

I got it. We sometimes prefer to play or just spend time with the kids and when its time to sleep, we have all the chores to do by ourselves.
