MOMI TIPS/ Enrichment Program at the Small House

Apr 20, 2016 | Only Berlin

At the small house, we have the Boys’ Summer Enrichment Activities (SEA).  Everyday, we have classes and activities that focus  on my kids’ academic, personal, and physical growth. This mother hopes that each activity will promote learning while still having fun. She aims that by the end of the school break, her three boys had:

  • Gained confidence in their writing, speaking, and dealing with others
  • Built on existing skills
  • Enriched attitude and knowledge in school subjects and home chores

Of course, It is also part of her goal to keep her children busy during summer break. The classes are as follows:

  • Monday:  Home Economics
  • Tuesday:  Public Speaking / Grammar
  • Wednesday:  Memory Boost / Mathematics
  • Thursday:  Penmanship / Writing Composition
  • Friday:  Music, Arts and Physical Education

Untitled-16

Public Speaking.  Every Tuesday, the boys are taught about power pause and the right pronunciation of words.

Untitled-17

Memory Boost. We play memory card game, a fun-filled and exciting game featuring the boys’ favorite avengers characters. Through the game, we get to practice and improve the kids’ concentration and memory skills.

Untitled-18

Penmanship and writing composition. The boys get to practice and improve their penmanship and also learn to express themselves through writing.

Untitled-19

Physical Education. We go to the subdivision’s park every Friday to play basketball or soccer or just to enjoy the swing or monkey bar.

Untitled-20

Home Economics. The boys undergo practical tests on carpentry, sewing, and even simple household exercises like mopping the floor, washing the dishes, and folding of the laundry.

So far, the boys are enjoining our classes, Physical Education the most.  And I hope that as school resumes, they will bring with them the lessons learned from our SEA Program.

How about you, any special summer activities for your children?  Would love to hear them.

It is encouraged for kids or youth to join any summer activities to fully utilized their time at the same time of learning something! Other than staying at home with the digital products! :))

This is a great idea for the kids to be occupied this summer. My son is just 2.8years old and not yet attending any play school though he has physical therapy sessions every week. Then at weekends, we go out or we swim at the pool in our place. 🙂

That’s nice. Swimming is one good activity. Summer is the best time for kids to be active as come school days and they will be preoccupied with school.

My kids are 4 years old and 3 years old. While some of my eldest’s classmates have enrolled in academic enrichment programs, we opted to do a home-schooling type of enrichment this summer by teaching them through experience. We’ve been traveling a lot lately and I’m happy that they’re not just learning, but also having lots of fun.

It’s great how you’ve actually planned your kids’ summer activities at home. We’ve enrolled our kids in summer activities out of the house to keep them busy. Other than that we just enjoy time together as a family even when we’re just at home. 🙂

    • momi berlin

Its whats important. To enjoy the time together as a family. If only we have all the resources, i would have enrolled my kids in all the sports and non academic classes they want and need. But then, we need to choose only and improvise.

Wow! So galing that you planned it all out. This summer, I did enrol the eldest for soccer. It’s only twice a week though. The rest of the week, I try to inject some academic things but super little lang. I’m so glad also when there are event invites so we can have a change of scenery. 🙂

    Reply
    • msbolin

We also look forward to events for that change of scenery. The eldest would want to continue his soccer as we enrolled him last summer but with the new baby in house, no one will drive him na at Makati where he used to play. The second one wants guitar lessons and we might enrol him since the place is jusy near ours. Hurray to our busy kids this summer!
